Hellow, Bucs fan here.
Figured I'd try to give a little insight about my team. First off, as you notice our strenght is our D. We are 9th in league in yards allowed per game but I feel this stat is misleading to our overall effectiveness. We are 4th in points per game, and 2nd in the league in interceptions. We've also scored 3 defensive TDs which is tied for 2nd the league. Essentially, the Bucs are a very much ballhawking D. Our only weakness this season has been giving up the long ball. The first game of the season, Barber (who has played sub-par this year) and Talib both gave up big plays which usually is very rare for this D. Barber seems to have a knack for slipping this season as well so he is somewaht of a liability. I'm sure you haven't heard of Philip Buchanon as a great CB but he is truly amazing. No one has been throwing his way. We are actually a very young D unlike so many people think w/ Brooks and Barber being the only 30+ rotational players on the team. Hovan just turned 30 and Carter rotates a lot so they dont count, haha.
Anyway, the way to beat this D is too be very patient and take what they give you. Use the flats and middle of the field to set up the long ball. I believe the Bucs have allowed the fewest red-zone TDs so you have to try for the big play b/c they are very stingy in the red-zone. In the past rushing it up the gut used to be very effective but we have not let up a rushing TD this year and are top 10 rush D as well. Essentially, Romo/BJohnson should try to pick on R. Barber, run M. Barber a lot in order to get the safety in the box (probably won't get a lot of yards but this will make Jackson move up) and then go for the big play. This is the only way teams have got points off of us.
On the O, even though we are not explosive we are very effective. We are 2nd in the league in TOP and 8th in yards/game. We dink and dunk/rush are way up the field w/o any big plays (usually). Hopefully Galloway will be back so that will change. Garcia has looked great the past 2 weeks and Graham/Dunn have been great as well. Dunn has a pinched nerve so he may not play next week though. We use a lot of TE's as well, especially in the Redzone. The O-Line has been nothing short of spectacular which I feel is really the key difference in our team from last year. Getting Jeff Faine was huge. On the flipside, when we have struggled it is when we are in the redzone. It seems as if Gruden is content w/ field goals and thusly, I belive we are 2nd to last in redzone-Td efficiency. Interceptions also have been bad but I think that is only bc of Griese. We should have blown out Greebay but Griese kept them in it.
With all of that said, I do not know much about the Cowboys, just the crap they spew off on ESPN but everyone does know they are probably the most talented team in the league and should not be taken lightly. Looking forward to an injury-free, great game.
And naturally, Bucs win 24-17
