Greg Cosell studies a lot of tape of the rookies, and typically does a real good job breaking the players down. When he talks about draft picks, I listen because over time he has proven that he’s a good evaluator.

NOTE: the LB part starts around the 9:30 ish mark.

It pretty much confirms what I was thinking on some of these prospects.

  • Styles is a physical phenom and a really good player.
  • Rodriguez is an elite processor with great eyes and very good athleticism
  • Hill, he compares to Kenneth Murray as a great athlete with not great processing.

Anyway, it is pretty good if you have a few minutes to watch it.

Yeah I ld rather target CJ or Rodriguez than go after Hill. I dont want to watch another slow processor despite their incredible athleticism.

I feel like the Hill stuff is getting blown out of proportion at this point. For every bad instincts report I hear there is one that disputes it.

I think it is more over aggressiveness and correcting angles but we will see.

Ouch Hill being compared to Murray

If Rodriguez could be a healthy Sean Lee please take him.

He just seemed to have that knack to always be around the ball/make plays.
And I feel like the combine showed he has the athletic ability to be a 3 down LB in the NFL with more experience.

I haven’t seen a whole lot saying that Hill is instinctive or that he has good eyes, but I haven’t looked a ton either.

I just worry because I think that Parker is going to be asking a whole lot (mentally) from this LB position. I definitely want a really natural smart player there.

I’m not saying hill isn’t smart… it’s just that I want a high football IQ guy there, and I don’t think that is Hill.

Question is 20 too rich for him
I think so but most of the time I’m in a mock simulator and trade back from 20, Rodriguez is gone before I pick again.

Unless it is a very small move back, I lose him more often than I get him. I worry that might be how it actually falls.

We’ll see soon enough.

JRod is a no brainer here. Despite his play on the field he’s a high character guy and is marketable as hell which Jerry loves.
As dumb as it is, I wouldn't doubt that Jerry sees 1) the Hispanic name and 2) being a near-local (Tech plus former training camp site Wichita Falls native) as good marketing points.

Don't get me wrong, I hope we get the player also. So Jerry's silly marketing brain could actually work for us here.

The stash and his cowboy hat and his wife being a Black Hawk pilot help his cause as marketable for America’s Team.

I just don’t see any way we can get him of CJ other than at 20. Yes we can wait until 92 but we’re talking 3rd wave of LB’s.
