First off, I've followed Cosell for years now and he is hands down one of the best film guys out there. He has done this for decades, GMs trust his work, and he has watched more film than most coaches. I really enjoyed the breakdown of the first interception.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...ew-tony-romo-mistakes-led-235519234--nfl.html

The answer is: Romo deserves a lot of blame on both of them, especially the game-ending interception to Packers cornerback Tramon Williams.

It looked like intended receiver Cole Beasley stopped his route, and that led to the interception, but Beasley did what he should do. Romo made the mistake by misreading the defense.

The Packers' defense on that play was "Cover 2 Trap." The safety, Sean Richardson, intentionally muddied his alignment. You can't tell what coverage he's in because he's not deep, and he's also not close to the line of scrimmage. From that midpoint he's giving no defined coverage to read. He could do anything from that spot.

Jesus Christ.

This is the main story on yahoo.com

why are they not breaking down brees horrible game? or mannings?

This is the main story on a news site? A crappy team loses and going after one guy is a national story? Why not go after eli manning then?

When the seahawks, saints and broncos get knocked out in a few weeks I hope they get this same treatment. I cant wait till seattle loses at home in the playoffs and continues the trend of the number 1 seed blowing it.

but for gods sake there is absolutely no reason for this to be the main story on yahoo.com....what a joke. Its like he threw an interception to lose the superbowl....

I am with babe at this point, I wish witten would ask for a trade and romo to. I would love to watch romo and witten go somewhere like Cleveland and win a superbowl.

up yours yahoo.

While there isn't a lot new to read, still a good write up.

I think part of it revolves around was its Beasley's fault.

Well the reality is we are the Cowboys. But the reality Cosell has worked with NFL Films for decades and helps read film for NFL shows. This is just one of many articles he watches where he breaks down film for people. You are crushing Yahoo but they are just using top guy for NFL stories and Romo is always a story until this stop happenings.

Beasley said he had no option on that route, but it appears that he doesn't know what he's talking about.

It's a good thing we have others not on the team to tell us that Beasley was wrong to tell us he didn't run it right.

I know who he is thanks. It makes no sense in any way shape or form that 5 days after a bad team loses and its defense gives up an unheard of 34 points in the second half this would be a top story on yahoo.com

its sad and pathetic. Lots of players had bad games this weekend.

if we were the number 1 seed and just blew the superbowl or something maybe I get it, but for a terrible team with one of the worst front offices in the league and a horrendous coaching staff this is just a sorry thing to do.

you can spout that Americas team nonsense till your blue in the face, this makes no sense.

It's Friday...and there's a new game on Sunday against the Commanders. I really hope the team has moved on more than the media and the fans.

How many more writeups,/threads/opinions do we really need about a game that we can't turn back the clock on?

Bolded is your issue. I've been a fan since 1975. This was in the middle of 20 straight winning seasons...a record to this day. The 80s weren't bad and the early 90s were great. The issue is the last 17 years adds up to .500 but Jerry pumps us as a SB team. We would be a non story if it weren't for that. But we are still the #1 team in merchandise so people care and people analyze. Not ridiculous at all when you hear what the FO says.

I understand and agree somewhat. You post a ton of articles for this site. I get the cycle and you do great work. I just think that posting some articles in here is worth discussion and I respect Cosell a lot and everything we've heard is Beasley was at fault. I though it was more of a coaches breakdown on the issues.

That is because our society is filled with idiots. A real nfl fan shouldn't give a rats *** what any member of the jones family says. They are irrelevant and have no idea what they are doing.

if I were a fan of another team I would never get sucked into any of the crap these people spew but national outlets cant help themselves because they are a slave to the idiot fringe fans who keep them afloat.

Stephen jones on the fan this morning was comical, his backtracking and acting all serious after last week laughing and having a good time and then his moron father saying it was a great show...

he completely backtracked today and was saving face. It must suck to have to go try and clean up daddy who he loves so much mess everyday...he sounded like a complete *******.

I blame Romo for one thing..

That is passing in those situations.. Anyone can see that Romo was trying to shut the door on the Packers once and for all when he threw that last pic.. The ONLY one I fault him for.. He hits Austin in stride, he is still running.

The only problem is.. If that was a TD.. The sorry defense would be back on the field.. Making the game close again.

From a football point of view, it pretty much says that Romo choked. Sure, our defense and bad play calling cost us, but Romo's 2 bad throws did too. On the first, he checked out of a run, didn't set his feet, and underthrew Austin. On the second, he threw to a guy who wasn't open. He could have threw it away and lived to see another day. But no.

Cossell is one of the best.

Romo's not winning anything in Cleveland! Lol (or anywhere else) lol

I love fans complaining about checking out of the run, I bet if I could search you would be one of the people who wanted us to throw in Detroit in the same scenario a few weeks ago....I wanted to throw in Detroit and I am happy we threw sunday, it just didn't work out at least romo was just gonna run 3x and punt.

and here Is a point I have seen no one bring up, thanks to that spineless twerp of a head coach everyone knows romo audibled.

lets reverse the situation.

If romo hits Austin and he runs to the endzone and closes out the game, after the game during the press conference when the media asks garrett about the play he would say it was a big play and when they asked romo he would say miles did a great job and it was a big play...

guess what romo wouldn't say....well garrett called a run but I felt like that was a mistake and he really doesn't have any guts so I changed it to try and win the game.

nope, romo would never say that. Garrett did and showed his true colors and he knows he has two weeks

Listen I'm on your side here and am ready for changes in areas...Garrett and GM...just a) I respect Cosell and b) this refutes the WR screwed up theory. Just putting it out for consumption

Checking out of the run was the least destructive thing he did on that play. Did you miss the part where I said he didn't set his feet and underthrew Austin?

im not questioning cossel or am trying to defend romo. He threw the interceptions in a big moment.

A few weeks ago in the same moment we went right down the field against Minnesota and then NY and won the game.

against Detroit tyron smith made a huge error that cost us the game, in KC dez dropped a ball that cost us the game.

The point I am making is that it is insane that its a top story on yahoo.com completely nuts. We are a pretty bad team with a terrible staff.

brees was awful sunday and probably cost his team the division with that loss and he has never won a playoff game on the road. this is a bigger story to me.

Cosell made the same "situational awareness" mistake Beasley made. Both focused on the position of the defender; neither focused on the fact that it was 2nd and 1. It's a pitch-and-catch first down and out of bounds if he doesn't sit down.

I've defended Romo on many occasions when I thought the WR had stiffed him. Both of those picks sure looked to be on Tony, to me. The first pick, I give him a *little* slack on, because he was avoiding a viscous rush, but even then, that was still a poor throw.
