I hope the coaching staff just lets him play. Don't turn him into a checkdown artist. That rarely works. Especially when you don't have the personnel to win a defensive battle.
Thats always the fear with this coaching staff, they did it with all 3 backup QBs last year and managed to win 1 game.

Garrett said in his last presser. Seattle runs their D the same way always. Nothing exotic just relying on their playmakers. So give the kid some credit.

Dak is a Cowboys fan, so I am sure he witnessed check down madness last year, and how it didn't win games. He has shown in the preseason to air that thing out, maybe almost too much as he got lucky on some throws.

Matt Cassell tried to air it out a little more than Weeden. The problem was, was that he was Matt Cassell.

I'm not saying to make him into a check down artist but I also don't want him to force trying to make a play that isn't there. That's what got Romo in trouble.

What got Romo in trouble was having an old Flozell Adams on the left, stone feet Columbo on the right, and Julius Jones in the backfield. Romo play improved substantially when we fixed the OL and RB

Didn't Romo get hurt with this OLine last year and this year by holding on the ball when there is nothing there?

I agree but I also think the QB has to earn the trust of the coach as far as how much they are willing to open things up. I think it is easy from a fans perspective to say just let him play but coaches see these guys day in and day out and see where weakness are and how much of the offense they are comfortable with. I will say I think Dallas thus far has given Dak a lot of different things to do in the offense and thus far he has shown he can handle that. I would suspect they will continue to give him more
