Greg Hardy and the Media

Is anyone else tired of the Media's trite bashing? I'm sick of it.

I just listened to a highlight of Mike Greene calling Greg Hardy a fraud. Then on Sports Nation you had Michelle Beadle talking about his past, and because of that he has no right to do what he did on the sideline. The "Gunz-Blazing" comment was also brought up on the show, then they asked if Greg Hardy should be suspended. On top of all this, I've seen multiple ESPN guys say Greg Hardy should be cut/and or suspended.

I mean really? You're going to call Greg Hardy a fraud because he's emotional after a loss, and doesn't want to talk to the media? That's what the NFL wanted, the players to be emotional during the media sessions after the game. You can't have your cake and eat it to. I view this as a positive characteristic, not a negative one. It's obvious the guy is effected by whether we win or lose, and he's not just collecting a pay check. I'll take that passion for all 53 guys, I can care less if he answers the media's questions after the game.

As for the comments on Sports Nation, his past actions OFF the field shouldn't be the reason you judge his actions ON the field, they're completely separate. When a passionate emotional guy like Hardy get's a little edgy on the sidelines, I don't want to hear about his domestic violence charges that were dropped. That's a completely separate issue, and it's beyond tacky by whomever brings it up. What I don't like is when I see guys like Hardy/Dez have an emotional event on the sideline, and they get crucified. Yet when a guy like Tom Brady has his spat with an offensive coordinator, he's hailed as a passionate warrior who's just caught in the heat of the moment. I don't want to hear that nonsense, the double standard is sickening.

Also bringing up the "Gunz-Blazing" comment is just pathetic. We all know it was just a figure of speech. Sure it may have been a stupid comment by Hardy, but did anyone actually think he meant bring an actual gun and "blaze" it? It's a complete shame how members of the media constantly grasp at straws to try and tear down these athletes. It's as if they prop you up, just so they can tear you down later, pathetic.

As for the members of the media calling for Greg Hardy to be cut to "right a wrong", or for 1-2 game suspension. Get over yourself, FOR WHAT?!! For getting into a heated argument with a coach? I'm sure those very same people who want Hardy suspended didn't have that same view with Brady.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired of the nonsense from the media.

Yeah it's absurd. We don't even know if Hardy did anything to that woman. People just believe what the woman says every time because nobody thinks the male can be the victim in said situation. A female judge convicted him. Not a jury. Beyond that even if he did what he was accused of people act like nobody in the history of the NFL has been allowed to play after a DV conviction. It's happened throughout the course of history and this is no different.

Hardy is not a saint. IMO-- he has served his sentence and should just move on (and be thankful) and get back to playing football.

He should realize he is a lightning rod, and do whatever he can to stay out of the limelight. By refusing to do so-- he is actually making things a LOT more difficult for his teammates, coaches, and owner.

I heard Norm blasting him this AM also. I don't get it. Maybe they just want more Lawerence and Mincy type guys on this team. Guys who smile all the time, says what the media wants to hear, and are perfectly fine with mediocrity. Hardy wants to win!!! Same as guys they love like Brady or Sherman. Difference is he's wearing a Star!

No pun intended but the jury is still out with me on Kraken. He's obviously a top 5 D Lineman. I like his intensity on the field but you have to know when to turn it down a notch. He was close to the edge with his physical actions on the sideline. Ironically I recall Dez having a sideline issue pretty much the same sort (with a coach) and Witten got into it with him. The media swarmed like flies on fresh bill^#@&. It was cleaned up and resolved.
I like fire in a player but there is a line and if he can come back into the locker room and instil a sense of leadership and strength to the team, bring it. However if he starts acting or talking out over the team and distracting focus with missing practice, we may have another TO/Ratliff on our hands.
Hope he and the team figure it out. Winning cures EVERYTHING in the NFL. Just 1 win baby and that can change our course for the rest of the year.

And I disagree with that assessment. The NFL just had a situation happen where they broadcasted nude players in the background of the locker room. On Mike and Mike they said it's an unfortunate event, they were asked why aren't the players given more than 5-7 minutes to clean up after the game and dress. Their response was that the NFL wants the players to still be on an emotional high after the game, and get an insight look into the locker room in the heat of the moment.

Well ... If that's the case, then how can you knock an emotional guy after a loss who doesn't want no part of any questions. Sure he didn't handle it the best way, but what you got from Greg Hardy was the furthest thing from a FRAUD. The emotion Greg Hardy showed in that media session was actually the complete opposite, it was genuine and a real response from Hardy. We just lost to a divisional rival in a hard fought out game, and just dropped 4 straight. Of course he's PISSED OFF, he actually cares whether we win or lose. For Greene to say Greg Hardy is a fraud because of that session is completely laughable, and just shows Greene is a moron.

Hardy could have just said that he didn't feel like talking, the way kept saying "Anymore questions?" "No comment" was very condescending and unnecessary. If it was an Eagles player who did that, we would all call him a punk, I think Greeny's assessment was fair.

This new modern day definition of respect is goofy. Was he wrong , yea sure. Was it disrespect? Absolutely not. And guess what , even JJ agrees. Saying more guys should do it. You probably don't like Dez going nuts on the sideline either.

Because he has an intense workplace environment-- he can therefore disrespect his teammates and coaching staff b/c he's so "passionate"? Ridiculous.

Sideline episodes happen from time to time-- but don't act like it's "normal". Every NFL team frowns upon it-- and it should NOT happen-- or be accepted. He could have taken responsibility after the game and apologized and said his emotions got the better of him. But he didn't.

I don''t hate him as a player. I get just as frustrated when Dez gets into shoving matches with teammates... Being a great player doesn't give you the right to be an ***hole.
