Greg Hardy vs Carolina

It's sobering to realize that we cannot simply end the season in a tie with the Giants. We must have a *better* record, or will lose out to tie-breakers. It's best to think of it as if we are 3 games behind the Giants. That's a lot of ground to make up.

It would be misery to end the season tied with them and then miss the playoffs entirely.

How are you determining that now? There are many combinations of wins/losses that could end in a tie, and some could have the Cowboys with the tie breaker.

I am more worried about containment, not to mention our DB situation (how is our shiny new rookie doing? and also our starting CB?)

how great would it be to beat the panthers and giants, eagles, wash lose :)

ah giants/wash play eachother. a washington win then?

That Commander game is going to be huge. Keep saying this, but Washington MUST win that game!

Oh and Cowboys win this week!

I think WASH can very well win on Sunday. They are coming off a bad loss but still will move into first place by beating the Giants at home. They have put together some decent stretches of football we have to hope they do so on Sunday.

The only thing that matters at this juncture is that Dallas takes care of their business and wins their games. Everything else outside of that is background noise that doesn't matter unless we win.

Not really, if the Giants lose to the Eagles and Commanders and the Cowboys sweep the Commanders then the Cowboys will hold the tie breaker if they had the same record. I don't think the Giants will lose to both but it's possible.

Nah. NYG only have to lose to one of them for Dallas to win that tiebreaker with a sweep of the Skins. NY already has two division losses.

Especially due to the bogus call on Street and the negation of the McFadden TD. Throw that in with Harris taking one to the house on us , and it's a double edged sword to be beaten in effect by a player we let go...

Let's just take this one game at a time or I threaten to bring out the Jim Mora "Playoffs" video.

looking ahead I'm hoping he will be super fired up for this game. I'm sure he will want to prove a point. If ever a game we need him to show up it will be this week.

I wouldn't count on it. There are some things the Cowboys team for at least the past 5-10 years have not been good at:

  1. FAs playing well against the teams that cut them/didn't resign them.
  2. Payback/revenge games (although the Eagles game last year was a marked improvement)
  3. playing against other teams backups substituting for star players
  4. players playing well when the media is dogging them
  5. Games where opposing team does a lot of trash talking before the game or gives you more than enough bulletin board material
  6. Winning when the media jumps on your bandwagon and anoints you as being in the top team status.
I don't know what it is about this team over the past decade (cough cough, coaches) , but when there is a moment you really expect the team/player to pin it is ears back, show up, and quiet its critics or punch their opponent in the mouth, the team/player just seems to put their tail between their legs and play an average to below average game.

Not true. If NYG lose one game against either Eagles or Commanders and we sweep the Commanders, we can end in a tie due to having a better division record (4-2 vs 3-3, tied head-to-head)

This game will surely be won (and lost) in the trenches. Very indicative of the norm... I like the ability of our gelling offensive line against their defensive line. On Thursday, I will be most interested in how our defensive line does in the trenches against the trend setters this season. I look for David Irving to come up bigger than Greg Hardy on Thanksgiving. I'm really liking that guy's ability to continue making an impact every week.

This is not true.

Dallas 8-8

Nyg 8-8

Dallas wins division by virtue of better division record 4-2 vs 3-3.

And that's just one scenario.

Basically Dallas absolutely can not lose to Washington. They probably have one loss to play with, as long as it's not Washington. If the Giants don't lose another division game, it probably won't matter what the Cowboys do because they likely end up with 9+ wins at that point.
