Greg Hardy's Burden

I meant to ask this yesterday on the way home Monday I missed the news on Hardy that Fish was going to report on the fan? Curious to hear what this burden was? Thanks in advance.

I would at least send a 5th blitzer up the A gap to make up for Hayden's inability to beat ONE guy. Crawford gets the one tech treatment more often than Hayden does.

D. Lawrence.. I fell for the offseason hype.

I wasn't impressed at all with his Boise State tape and wasn't impressed with him at all last season outside of the 1 huge play he made in the playoffs.


Keep in mind that we gave up a 2 & 3 for this guy.... He has to be better than what he is for a 2 & 3.

Tyrone Crawford - 23 tackles, 4 sacks, and 10 hurries. He wouldn't start for anyone in this league?

So, the only way Crawford wouldn't be garbage is if he was on the level of Atkins and Suh? Crawford isn't elite, but he's on the level of both Mike Daniels and Kawaan Short, both of which are starters in this league.

We could do much MUCH worse at the position.

That's the impact of guys like Hardy.. You take him away, it's garbage up front. And this thread is trying to justify he's not making an impact.

And IMO your correct about our offense not making it easy for our defense.

He's about average maybe a little above a few games a year. He's not the only one that's over paid. But people were acting like he was gonna be a Suh or watt or something. Doesn't help to have Hayden and Lawrence next to him. Now they really suck.

Here's the thing too. Someone around here a few years back, who was a Yankees fan, mentioned the Cowboys are just like them. Their players and prospects are overhyped. Alot of it is the media attention the Cowboys receive, some of it is Jerry and Spaulding's selling themselves as talent evaluators. Regardless, Cowboy players, draft picks, and the like are usually overrated.

Not saying the Cowboys don't have a few good players but, Lawrence is a perfect example, he's a nice rotational 4-3 end nothing more. Throughout the offseason, our marketing department i.e. Jed Clampett and Son, sold the guy as vastly improved, stronger, excited to play LDE, and all that. The Cowboys sell it, the media takes it and distributes it, the enormous fan base buys it. The season plays out, and Lawrence hasn't been terrible, but he is a serviceable end nothing more. Not worth trading up for in the 2nd, certainly not with a division rival, and the cycle will go on and on. They'll hype him as long as he's a Cowboy and he'll never eclipse 6-8 sacks per year. Not singling D-Law out, it happens with the vast majority of players on this team. They are GREAT marketers, not so much personnel experts.

He's not "overpaid" - look at how DTs are paid in this league, his production this year is making the contract we gave him (Which is nowhere near massive) justifiable.

The last time Marinelli blitzed, 3rd and 17 turned into 1st and 10. Bottom line, the defense is just not very good.

We've got a BUM playing DT for 35+ snaps/game. But it's ok, apparently the position isn't that important. Never mind the fact that teams are probably scheming a lot of their blocking assignments KNOWING they can easily handle him with one OL. If Hayden got released today, what team possibly signs him???

I just don't understand....
