Its called a ban and there is a re-instatement process. One has to apply for re-instatement, if it was fixed length suspension he would be allowed back upon completion of 1 year.

A banishment of at least one year......could be forever ...... the player can apply for reinstatement after a year and then every 6 months I believe

Ok, admittedly, a poor attempt at a joke. I have penned a number of posts about substance abuse and the devastation it causes to the individual as well as friends and family. I couldn't be happier for Randy and his journey to recovery, regardless whether he ever plays football again. That said, and at the risk of sounding selfish, I believe his recovery and long-term sobriety is enhanced by a successful return to the NFL.

As an aside, I hate cryptic Twitter, FB, email and other messages.
