The NFL could have reinstated Gregory back when Aldon Smith was. This, to me, was done on purpose. It's almost like Gregory is still getting a six game ban this year. Goodell still hates the Cowboys.

that's how i felt about Goof-dell as well.
Frankly i thought he would be determined to sit out Gregory for the entire season, just out of personal spite.
Even having to sit out 5-6 games thsi year because of protocol is just like having a 6 game suspension.
Goof-dell still gets to smerk and have his way.

can you ever think of ANY Cowboys era where we had more of a deeper, quality set of DE's ?
i cannot .

I can't either. This group on paper looks special. Might be just for this 1 season, but let's enjoy the ride!

Apples and oranges sir.
Yeah, his were for PEDS, you would think that is worse. If anyone has mocked the program, it is Gordon. He gets reinstated every season only to be re-suspended. Gregory's sole issue is weed and has to jump through fire hoops for a chance to play.

I'm glad Gordon was able to dupe the system again (follow whatever protocols to get reinstated) but doesn't that just show how illogical the system is to begin with?

and who did have of this group caliber behind Harvey and Too Tall ?
we did not even have quality depth like this even in Haley and Tolbert or DWare and Ellis

The current group is "on paper" at this point.

There is definitely potential to be very good and deep, but the depth is just potential at this point.

DLaw + Griffen
Aldon Smith: 4 years out of football
Randy Gregory: Talented but only 1 start in 28 games played.
Others: Unproven.

In the history of the NFL DLaw is just a guy.
- He wouldn't start on a team with prime years Harvey Martin and Ed Jones.
- I'm not certain that DLaw would even start over Tony Tolbert with Jimmy as HC.
- Tolbert would have had far more sacks if that was his top responsibility.
- Tolbert was a the base DE with run contain as his top priority. He had 12 sacks in 96 when Haley only started 5 games due to injury.

Jim Jeffcoat was the 3rd DE in 92. He has 102 career sacks and played 5 more years after the 92 season.

Unfortunately we can't really compare stats due to different eras.
- There is far more passing now which means far more sack opportunities.
- Sacks were not an official stat for all of Harvey Martin's career.

Thanks for sharing;
You make several good points. Gregory and Anae are more potential than proven.

- Yeh, this is not a knock against 70's era of starters vs this year's starters. heck Griffin may only play just one year here.
B ut more so measuring the quality of depth behind these starters vs any other Cowboys era.

- You bring up a great example with Jim Jeffcoat (who i forgot played behind Haley/Tolbert)
Jeffcoat is actually a 100 sack club. he is even ahead of Charles Haley on the NFL's All time Sack History.
A very underrated rotational sack artist.
Interestingly Jeffcoat has never made a single all pro or pro bowl during his career. Even specialist sack artists like Fred Dean and
Greg Townsend have have All pro/pro bowl accolades.

- Sure Aldon has missed 4 yrs and still getting re-adjusted to NFL again, and Cowboys nation could be jumping the gun vs scrub OTs
in camp if all indication with his early matches with Tyron are encouraging, this was a guy that was the fastest player in NFL history to
record his 30th sack in just his first 27 games. Most sacks in a player's first 2 seasons in NFL. and a former All pro and pro bowler.

Good thing people got their gripes in about the league allowing Gordon’s back in but not Gregory. If they had waited a day they would have missed the chance.

I had read somewhere that Gregory wasn't sure if he wanted to come back. Until he was convinced to do so. Who knows.

No, it shows that if you can pass a test you can get another chance. Not at all complicated.

I think you misunderstood a mediot on what they said. More like the mediot didn't know if Randy Gregory wanted to come back or not.

Here, let me help you.

Gooddell is hired by the owners. He is their mouthpiece, their hit man. He is paid an enormous amount to take the blame for all the crapp they want done.

Jerry bucks the owners. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

Falling for the Goodell hate thing is like falling for a tranny.

We all get a dig in ocassionally. Life’s no fun if we just nod politely and agree with everyone whether they have a point or not.
