Gregory update

I don't expect much on the field and listening to Garrett a few days ago it doesn't sound like he's expecting much. He kept saying how long it's been since Gregory played. He had absolutely no clue where Gregory's game is at right now. He'll be going up against players that are in playoff form. They'll use him in pass rush situations, sending him after the QB seeing what he can do.

They will be using him against guys that have been beat on all year long. A fresh body like his against players that have a season's worth of wear and tear might just be more successful than you are expecting. And yes, he will be going in specifically in rush situations only so teams won't even be able to slow him down by running. I think he could give us some good snaps. Heck, if it isn't him it is going to be Zach Moore and Ryan Davis. Who would you rather have rushing?

GREAT NEWS!!!

This is about this season and run, we will worry about his suspension and any fallout later. We get another cog for the push!

Thanks for the news, Risen.
This a million times! There are too many "fans" that want to spin every bit of good news because they have an agenda to prove they were right about a player.
-Gregory can help this year..."Yeah but next year blah blah blah"
-Dak Wins 11 in a row loses 1..."Tony, Tony,Tony!"

The list goes on and on. I bet they are popping champagne after hearing RoMac is suspended indefinitely. That's not to say that I am not disappointed and even frustrated when players fail tests or others are injured every year (looking at you Mo), I'm a fan...of course I get upset. However, as a fan of this team I will always root for players to overcome and prove the narrative wrong as opposed to hoping to see them fail the team and more importantly themselves. Heck, I feel the same about every player in the league, even the ones I hate, because at the end of the day this NFL product is one that I love and they all make it a better game.

That wasn't supposed to be a rant, my bad, but every positive thread has to turn South before the end of the 1st page.

Shout Out to the real fans!

I'm sure Mara will get it moved up the docket.

Mara's Giants have been getting a lot of negative press this year so I'm not too worried about him. The recent artical in sporting news called them "slime".....

It seems to me that he is getting a trial run for good behavior. Do well and keep your **** together, Randy.
I think somehow the league is delaying it so that the news of the overturn can be buried in the offseason and not discussed during the broadcasts unnecessarily.

I do worry that they would go after this right before a Super Bowl appearance, if we would get there, just for the publicity alone.

I wonder about tests after this one, what happened with them. Shave your body like a swimmer, Randy.

Good point, that's probably it right there. But I have to think if he's under review for a year long suspension already, one more snag and it's an indefinite suspension.

That said, I'm not 100% confident there even is a year suspension under review. Rapaport could be full of it.

Year long suspensions seem to be indefinite anyway since you are not automatically reinstated like every other suspension.

Garrett is Gregory's near direct superior who works with him personally. You have to take what he says about Gregory with that in mind.

You don't want to load him up with expectations and ease him in. That does not mean that he cannot perform well. I am just glad he has a few games to work his way back into things before the playoffs.

I think Garrett is as fed up with Gregory as most of us are. Jerry is the one who still won't commit to giving up on him, he's still trying to save face over that pick. Gregory didn't perform well in any game last season. Even in the opener before he got injured he did nothing. They'll line him up and send him after the QB and see what he can do. We need a rotation so he'll be part of that.

Agreed, but then again, it's one of those "what did you expect him to say" things, right?... I mean, that's just classic Jason Garrett modus operandi (sp?).

There really wasn't anything else he could say Gregory hasn't played a regular season game in a year.

A fresh body that's been spending the past year in rehab and not playing football is going to have a tough time against any player who's in playoff form from playing football all season. It takes game reps and proper technique to get to the QB which comes from practicing, playing games and gaining experience none of which Gregory has been getting lately. Don't think it's going to matter much if it's Zach Moore, Ryan Davis or Gregory.

This is actually kinda disappointing news to me. I was under the impression that his appeal wouldnt take place "well into the off-season".....which to me implies late Feb. or March at the earliest. Our first playoff game might not be until mid January, bet his appeal happens before then.......on the other hand if he doesnt show anything in our final two reg games then who cares.....
I'm still hoping it's all just misinformation until I hear it from the NFL. Even then I will check NFL.com every day for the following week hoping to see the statement retracted.

I've heard Garrett spout Christian maxims about judgment and sin when presented what you are ascribing to him concerning various players over the years.

I get the impression that you are inserting what you would do for his thinking.

So not only was he suspended for 14 games this year hes also facing being suspended all of next season too?

kjj, to be fair, I could imagine another coach might have, instead, channeled his inner Jerry Jones and offered a whole lot more optimism... maybe a Campo or a Wade Phillips.

He's not going to give his true feelings on Gregory but he can't be pleased with him, he's let the team and the organization down repeatedly. Jerry is the one still trying to save face over the pick. He still claims Gregory has a future here. lol Garrett was the one prior to camp saying we're going to move on from some players and Gregory had to be one of the players he was referring to but everyone knows that's up to Jerry who we move on from.

Most coaches I have been around are never happy. That doesn't tell me much except that they are demanding and pushy.

We did move on from some players too. We have been told repeatedly that the Cowboys run from consensus. Too many men only recognize the alpha male it seems.

I actually don't get that "fed up" impression. At all. We've seen Red's "fed up" face and heard his "fed up" talk... rewind the Greg Hardy, and to a lesser degree, the Rolando McClain tapes.

I think he's just being matter-of-fact and objective... I sense he respects how Gregory has shown up and continues to work hard.
