Not sure if anyone saw the Packers game last night, but they gave it to their full back twice and he scored, barreling over the Eagles defense.

Gronkowski had 1 carry for us for 10 yards.

Unacceptable.

8 yards, not 10. That said, the 8 yards was for a first down. :)

I've always been a proponent of having a FB who got 3-5 carries a game and could grind out tough yards, however the fact Gronk only got one carry was not significant in the game, and the fact the one carry was so successful does not mean continued carries would have been successful.

Most of the time, the ball should be going to Jones/Austin/Witten/Bryant. Instead, it went to those guys just over half the time.

That's what's unacceptable.

Come on, that wasn't the problem. We just didn't execute. Besides, Bryant got a hell of a lot of action for a guy who had never played even a preseason snap in the game, and Austin got a hell of a lot of passes - you can't ask for more. I can understand having a discussion about Jones, but not the rest.

Red zone. The entire NFL expects us to dork it up. Why not hand it off to Gronk and see if he can get us inside the 5.

I don't have a problem with that. I'm just saying that it's a little excessive to say it's "unacceptable" that he didn't get more carries, as if that was a big factor in the game. The one he got was one more than we usually give the FB, and maybe it will lead to more over time.

Are you serious? We have three good RB's, and you want to start finding more carries for the FB?

Of all the things to complain about...seriously.

My brain hurts...thanks.

We need to worry about our own coaches ICING our best RB(Felix) before we worry about giving our FB more carries.

This is what I posted a few days ago ..

The one thing I like about him is that he hits the hole fast for a fullback. By the time Cricket gets the ball and gets to the line, the linebackers have already filled the gaps. Gronkowski gets the ball and hits the hole so fast that linebackers don't have time to fill the gaps meaning he's a real option for 3rd and short that we have been missing the last couple of years.

I really like what he can add to the offense and if we succeed with a conversion or two early in a game, it will have the linebackers leaning a little on 3rd and short later in the game.

You should stop painting on it :p:

Seriously though. HB passes in the red zone? Seriously?

Do something conventional. Give it to your battering ram full back when they expect it to go to Barber on a toss (as usual) and see what happens. That's smart football and "smart out-smarting" your opponent, not throwing two screens in a row to your rookie WR. Horrendous.

Valid point.

He shouldn't of had even one carry...

Or do something really brilliant, and call a play to get ice-cold-preseason-disappointment Kevin Ogletree a look.

At least it would have been giving him a look instead of two straight un-blocked SCREENS to DEZ BRYANT.

He earns the name "Spider-Man" from his teammates for his "acrobatic catches" and you throw him screens? :lmao2:
