GRR Martin releases an excerpt from his upcoming book

Not enough. I need more =(

Darn you George! THE WAIT IS TOO DARN LONG! WINTER IS COMING!

I refuse to read any of these. I will just wait until they are released together and in the proper order. It's tempting though.

You did not miss anything. Now if it was about Arya instead of Sansa... That would be different

Martin has almost entirely killed what started out with so much promise. Even were he to salvage the ending it wouldn't be great and at least one whole book was a meandering waste.

From a book perspective, he began the downfall with a Feast for Crows.

'GRR Martin releases a little bit of the winds of winter' sounds more like a guy with the chili-farts than it does the next blockbuster in a series of really good books.

I think he's a dude that benefitted from an editor who probably harangued the bejeezus out of him for each of the first four books before both got too far under the gun to continue the same process for book 5. It read more like a galley copy that needed to be fairly dramatically red-lined to me. Still plenty of meat on the bone, but not organized properly and with way too many things that could have been cut out or cut down fairly easily. I hope WoW is a fairly dramatic return to form, because these are otherwise really great books.

Honestly, I thought the series started going slowly downhill somewhere in book 2, with episodes involving Tyrion, Snow, or Stannis providing the sole bright spots, and even episodes with Snow were spotty. Overall, the guy doesn't deserve to have the universe he created.
