GPS is out for 10 months and possibly more with a torn ACL. He might not return to the Octagon until 2013. Many fighters never recover from such a serious injury and long layoff.

End of his dominance? Who wins the interim title between Condit and Diaz?

I have to say that I'm quite bummed as I was looking forward to see if GSP could keep his promise to put "the worst beating in UFC history" on Diaz in response to the comments that were made after the Penn fight.

It's the only way that Diaz or Condit were ever going to see that belt. Neither one of them could have, or would have, beaten GSP.

It's a shame that he sustained such a terrible injury and now will likely not fight again for well over a year. By the time he finally fights again it's going to have been more than 2 years since his last fight.

A real loss for the UFC during this important transitional phase in its history given that GSP is one of the more marketable fighters with mainstream appeal.

Do u watch MMA??? Cuz Diaz is a bad match up for GSP, I had Diaz heavily favored in this match up. Plus Diaz actually puts on good fights

yes I do watch.

And I've heard this bad match up stuff before. At first GSP was supposed to be scared of wrestlers. "Oh that's a bad match up!" What did he do? He went out and got better at his ground work, and take down defense, to the point that it's laughable that wrestlers even attempt it. GSP simply dominates his 170 opponents and is able to do so in whatever they're good at.

And Diaz is darn good, maybe great, at stand up but GSP has taken on guys great at that as well and dispatched them. I don't recall anyone thinking BJ Penn was a slouch when GSP demolished him.

The Pitbull was supposed to be too strong for him. All he did was dominate him.

Jake Shields was going to give him serious match up issues. GSP simply embarressed him for 5 rounds.

I think Diaz would have been his toughest opponent but GSP would have beaten him just like he did everyone else.

GSP got outstruck by Shields, he looked timid. He only embarrassed himself by fighting so timidly.

Not to make excuses, but didn't suffer an eye injury early on that impaired his eyesight? Whatever the case, you're right, it wasn't his most impressive win.

He did look pretty good against Jon Fitch, though, who many thought presented a formidable challenge.
