Guard or Reciever

Not gonna lie,I want Calvin Ridley.....BUT....in the beginning....ALL the way back to pre-combine my guy was Isaiah Wynn.
If it were up to me....as much as I want Ridley....I'd take Wynn.
He is a perfect fit.
but I gave up on it when he wasnt extended a 30 visit.
Ill never understand that.
They talked to him at the combine....then crikets.

I like Wynne too. He can play T and G and showed that at the combine. Didn't notice that he wasn't in for a visit. That's unfortunate

5 days man, 5 days
I know.
and I still dont have a solid feel which way they go....I think our pick will be from This group:
•Calvin Ridley,WR
•Courtland Sutton,WR
•DJ Moore,WR
•DaRon Payne,DT
•Rashaan Evans,LB
•James Daniels,C/G

this pick at 19 is WIDE open.

We've got a checkdown-heavy QB in a run first offense. We don't need dynamic receivers, just guys that can get open within 10 yards.

Would it hurt to have one - of course not, but I don't want to spend the resources to go get one.

And this team as it's constructed doesn't need one right now, not in my opinion anyway.

Dez was producing what? 800 yards a season? That's not #1 receiver production.

And our quarterback in his current stage of development isn't fully utilizing #1 receiver potential anyway.
I agree. We could go like Washington in the 2nd and allow him to grow with Dak, adding in Zeke and we might have a new set of triplets

Guard. This team wins in the run game. Plus I don’t see a true #1 WR in this class. It’s a whole bunch of twos
Sutton will be like Brandon Marshall.....BUT i say draft Hayden Hurst TE...hes best run blocking & rec. TE...we could go 2 TE sets like Pats did years ago...this improves our run & pass game

I don't think many people realize the extent of the surgery he had on his shoulder. He's not ready to workout yet, so there's not much point bringing him in IMO. The other thing that is probably not realized is that while the prognosis for full recovery is very good, no NFL player that has had his surgery in the offseason has been back ready for the start of the following season. Whoever drafts Wynn can expect him to miss all of training camp, and probably the first month of the NFL season.

Ahh, didn't realize that. Thanks for the update

Yeah, I didn't either and had to do a bit of research when he missed his combine and pro-day.

The average time to recover from his injury is 8.4 months and he obviously had it sometime after the senior bowl (Jan 27). So you'd expect him to be out until the middle of October. I think he's a really good prospect but with his injury, I'm not drafting him in the 1st round.

yeah really liked what I saw in the senior bowl. Like I said, that's unfortunate, and no I wouldn't take him in the first round either Dan

I want to express my appreciation for your post EXPLAINING in admirable fashion, illustrating ONCE AGAIN to the
" golden BB crowd" as to why a receiver taken in the first round is unnecessary if not downright preposterous, when the " check down" QB checks out on his primary read to soon, thusly inducing that ( if it's not outright panic mode, it's Happy Feet claustrophobic walls closing in mode)and reverts to the coaching staffs 'applied pressure' put on him in being a pocket passer by going all tunnel vision in his check downs,,, totally oblivious to what viable targets are actually open downfield,,,by saying THANK YOU!

* #4 is our Man & I'm 'all in' pushing the Dak Attack war wagon but to continually get so swept up in the fantastical fantasy of drafting#1WR in the first rd. is the cure for the cancer of .500 league avg. production is beyond my limited scope of warm-n-fuzzy embraceo_O

Are you implying that the coaching staff intimidates and "applies pressure" on Dak to be a pocket-passer? I know I'm a bit narrow minded sometimes and I got stuck early on a QB coach who would do his best to emulate his great QB coaching successes of the past (no, not Romo, that was all Sean Payton). Maybe that's why we went with Kellen "mini-me" Moore. That dude wouldn't intimidate anyone lol. I always find something in your posts that stimulate the grey matter mellon dude :)

:lmao: right-on brother!
You & I both know Jason Garrett was bound to be harbouring some undercurrent of intimidation by #9's QB production as compared to the 'output' he'd generated while 'playing'and that Tony could nonchalantly ' pop-off' wise at times, possibly worsening that intimidation,,, ya-know? before #9 was benched, the team was pretty adamant with the " a starter won't lose his position due to injury "mantra,,, JG couldn't browbeat and kick sand on #9 like he can with #4 is pretty much what I'm pointing out with that
"Applied pressure from the coaching staff" quip.

Guard. Give me Miller at 50. To be clear,I love Moore also. Miller just checks all the boxes on and off the field.

Just say no to round 1 WR. I don't even remember who the first round WRs were last year but some of the analysts said all of them were non factors. Add to that the guy we reportedly liked, JuJu Smith-Schuster, that the Steelers took at 62 looked like the real deal.

I think St. Brown is the Juju of this draft.

Receiver is one of the hardest positions to project from college to the NFL. You may be right. Its like throwin darts though. Brown,Miller or Moore. Miller might be that guy that just blows up the rookie camps, preseason and so on. The best YAC guy is Moore, followed by Miller. Unless Sutton and Ridley are like Julio Jones(THEY ARE NOT)...I AM PASSING ON WR until at least pick 50. We can fill positions of greater need for better value at 19. Hernandez, evans, or Payne....but watchout for a sneaky pick here...we may draft a tightend like Goedert or Gesicki. I think the likely pick will be a linebacker like Smith or Evans. I think LVE is not in our plans at 19.

War Room Experiment 3.0: How the Cowboys draft COULD look. – Jeff Cavanaugh, The Athletic
The Athletic's Jeff Cavanaugh is back in the war room wearing his GM hat and he's taking us for another ride on his draft decision-making journey. Who gets the nod for pick 19 this time around?

Calvin Ridley or James Daniels? Both players are among the top twenty players in the draft class and both fill a need here. Both were among the Cowboys' 30 visits. Ridley is the best receiver in the draft and would be a nice piece for Dak Prescott to throw to. James Daniels is the best center in the draft, has also played guard and would be the starting left guard here.

The last thing to consider is the depth of the draft itself. Right now zero wide receivers have been selected and we really like five of them (Ridley, DJ Moore, Anthony Miller, Michael Gallup, Courtland Sutton).

The pick: James Daniels, OL, Iowa. Your new starting left guard. Many of you wanted a wide receiver, but just hold on! We have a plan here.

I don't want to play spoiler here, but it's a pretty good plan.

In case you missed it...
