Guard: Travis Bright

Two years ago Holland played well in replacing proctor but got injured the next game. Maybe he is a little rusty.

It looks like it was the RG that allowed the sack not Bright.

I deleted it about half an hour ago because my recordings take up like 25 gigs each, but I watched it 10 times and it was the LG not playing a stunt right. Maybe the RG screwed up as well, but Bright helped with the LT and let the DL right through.

I'd rather we keep Bright and cut Holland. The staff isn't that high on Holland anyways.

I'll second the idea of keeping Bright over Holland. Although, Wade praised Holland after the SD game. I don't know why. I didn't see him do much.

I am all for keeping Bright. It looks like Gurode, Davis and Colombo could all be cut after this season if they don't play well. So, Bright may be Davis' replacement next season. Also, Barron is a FA after this season.

Bright just has to hold Kosier's position while he is injured. It may only be a game or two, if any.

No, it was McQuyistan...I watched that play about 4 times, McQuistan didn't block ANYBODY, and stood in the middle of the field looking around while McGee was rolling around on the ground.

Bright has been nearly flawless all preseason long.

I have been watching a different Bright apparently. This is the guy who lost his backup center job to Costa and has been very medicore all preseason. And I was very positive coming into the season about him due to good offseason reports.

Putting Young on IR will hamper his development. If we are talking a two to three week injury he will be back in time for week two.

Bright can go back on the PS if the coaching staff has any faith in him.

Bright had trouble at center but he has done well at guard. How difficult is that to grasp?

10 Offensive lineman will be on the roster.

And Travis Bright will not be one of them.

how many games do you expect him to be in we seen the last game action from him this year

so the smart thing to do is to put IR let him have a year to get stronger an then let him show what he can do next year

Bright will never clear waivers

That was Holland who started.

I didn't watch every play that closely, but it sure looks to me like Bright's the one who got McGee sacked at 4:41 left in the 4th.

Huh? I have watched this play several times and the pressure and the sack were against Barker, who was playing RT with Young out. Barker was terrible.

McQuistan got him killed on the 4th down play.

OK, he has looked better at guard against 3rd stringers than he did as a center against 3rd stringers. He is more mediocrity.

A year sitting and watching didn't help Brewster. Putting him on IR would limit him from being able to practice with the team I would think. He will learn more and develop more as an active member of the roster.

You greatly overestimate Bright's ability. What makes you think he is so great?

Really?

Bright has been absolutely stellar at guard all preseason long. He routinely man-handles his opponent and has even improved his run blocking. Not sure how anyone could be anything but impressed with his play at guard. He has been our most solid guard throughout the preseason...including among our starters. I'd love to see how he'd fare against 1st team defense...I have a feeling he would do very well.

what makes you think Young is so great ?

Brewster is getting it

Let's see......Young has been the talk of camp as far as OL have gone, outside of the starters. Bright went from high hopes to an also ran. If Young had not been injured, there is no chance Bright would have made the roster over him. Even with Young hurt Bright is still a longshot to make the roster.

Brewster injury kept him out almost the whole year even from a rehab standpoint. Young's injury is not expected to make him miss more than a few weeks. Getting active reps even as a backup will help Young much more than sitting on the sidelines and watching.

well thats your opinion

Even with Young hurt Bright is still a longshot to make the roster.

well who do we have as a back up Gaurd say Holland gets hurt

you know we need one

I see the future line as with the guys we have now

Free
Bright
Costa
Brewster
Young

Point me to any article, quote from the coaches, etc that indicates that there has been any talk of Bright making the active roster.

Bright is not in the top 10 OL on this team. The ONLY chance he has of making the active roster is due to a long term injury to one of the top 10.

I'd have no problem with it if they are good enough to earn the spot. But I would guess that Brewster would get the first chance to play G if Holland went down.

so you think hes playing 2nd string gaurd for nothing

is that your take ?

well then Young - Brewster - Costa - Barron are not going to make the team either using that logic

show me where the coaches have said he will be cut ?

I really don't know what else Bright could do to convince people that he's the real deal. All he does is go out there and absolutely dominate at the guard position week after week. I don't just think he'd be a great back-up, but I also think he has the potential to be a really good starter...I just wish he would get the opportunity to prove it instead of Holland.

He is playing second string guard along with McQuistan because we don't have any more guards. Duh.

If Kosier was healthy, I think it would be Holland and McQuistan playing on the second team, with Bright being the third.

I do think McQ is a goner (thank God!) so Bright is only one spot away from making the team, but he basically has to beat out Holland to do so. They know what they have in Holland though, so he clearly has the edge.

I think we have a big decision to make with Brewster. He actually has not been horrible at tackle but most think he is better suited for the inside. With Colombo, Free, Barron and Young likely to be on the final roster....and all of them tackles only, it would make sense to try moving Brewster inside.
