Does anybody know where I can find some numbers on this? Like what percentage of people own guns in each state?

I found an article from the washington post, but that was 9 years ago and I need something more up to date.

thanks for the help!

I would think that the 2001 data is still fairly accurate.

Had you moved prior to 2001? If not, the numbers won't be accurate. You've likely spent too much time associating with Texans and now own an arsenal to show for it. When you move to a different state, its gun ownership totals will increase dramatically.

somebody just posted an article about Arizona gun ownership

Texas 200 million guns

Vermont 1 gun

Actually, Vermont has some of the most permissive gun laws in the union. In fact, it's one of only two states in which a person can carry a gun in public without a permit.

only to protect their Ben & Jerry's.

No one has any way of knowing how many guns are in any particular home, let alone in the whole state.

Before I move out of a state, I bury my weapons in hidden caches. That way, if I'm ever forced to rapidly relocate (say due to a zombie apocalypse) then I can move from one area to the next and always have a means of protection. Due to their secret nature, all of my weaponry is hush-hush and off the books and because of that, my armories don't count towards national statistics.

Well, I did have to register "Daisy Cutter" and "Bunker Buster" (my biceps) but that was just so I could carry in public.

is that kind of like how Tony Soprano hid cash in his backyard in case he was ever taken into custody?

not according to that article- there were 12 that did not require a permit. The GREEN states there do.

Not without a permit. There is only 2 that you can carry a gun without a permit. Alaska and Vermont. Arizona is trying to pass a bill to become the 3rd.

Looks like i'll have to roll with the 2001 data. Thanks.

That was an article about concealed carry without a permit. That map covers open carry (carrying in plain view).

Alaska and Vermont are the two states that now do not require permits to carry concealed weapons.

http://thestatecolumn.com/articles/04_15/arizona_concealed_weapons_2345.php

Only Alaska and Vermont have similar laws.

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gfwtbrRcA8eL1rCF9qQ56omR-HqAD9EV6OJO0

If the legislation is enacted, Arizona would join Alaska and Vermont in not requiring permits to carry concealed weapons. Forty-five other states require permits for hidden guns, and two states — Illinois and Wisconsin — prohibit them altogether.

Come on man, read.

Concealed carry
: Carrying concealed from view. This is legal in two states without a permit.
Open carry: Carrying in open view. This is legal is twelve states without a permit, plus others but with rules you have to check or in exchange for a loss of certain liberties.

I know I will continue to cling to my gun in one hand and my bible in the other. :laugh2:
