been rewatching the game and taking special note of Gurode.
This guy had a phenomenal game.
If our OGs got as much push as he did, we could've run right up the middle for no less than 5 yards on every play.
Gurode got a good (almost huge) push on his man every time and oftentimes slid off to get a partial block on someone else. He also got to the second level on a number of occasions. He stoned everyone over him in pass protection and peeled off a number of times to help Rivera.
He also had a number of pancake blocks, putting several guys on the ground.
You don't often notice the C position unless they are screwing up but Gurode's performance last night deserves special attention IMO.
Al Johnson might as well be traded because he isn't sniffing the field if Andre continues to play like this.
IMO, our weak link on the OL is Rivera and it isn't close. Kosier may second.
Guard has to be a top priority going into next season. We need a roadgrader.

Glad to hear your evaluation of Gurode. Was wondering how he was doing but also heard Parcells was pleased with him in today's PC. Your right on about Johnson & doubt he comes back next year so we'll have to find a backup behind Gurode--unless 7th round pick Whitely (now on IR) shows he can be a legit NFL OL at C & OG. Know most of you recall Whitely can play on 5 OL positions but was told by Parcells he'd be playing C & OG.

Considering we didn't hear one peep from the announcers about Gurode, that's a good thing. The Center should be the quietest position on the field. That's perfect for me.

For some, it takes time. Gurode is still a young player. He has plenty left in him, and he can only get better.

After the first game, and I know this is pre-mature, but dare we say the "P" word... caugh*pro-bowl* caugh - If he continues the way he's playing.
Hey, Nate Newton turned it around..

how much are we paying rivera?:bang2:

$10 signing bonus spread over 5 years. If we cut him after this year, we eat $6 mil.

We need to get Gurode signed long term. He's sitting on a 1 year, $1 mil contract. If he continues to play well, he's gonna get something fat from someone else.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We were throwing the P word around for Al Johnson two years ago also. It's all very silly in retrospect.

I don't know.... He's not only blocking his man, but he's completely dominating his guy.. And the job he did on those monsters over there in Jacksonville, priceless.

THe fact that we the fans had lost confidence in him, but BP kept him around for 3 years shows us alot about the kid. Parcells extended his 3 year rule for this kid, because he was quite bad at times last year.

Parcells saw sometihng in him, and the kid is finally paying dividends.

Kosier playing good football right now... I won't argue with this statemen.
I haven't rewatched the Skins game yet, but against Jacksonville, he was very good.

I didn't notice anything glaring this game, so I think it should be good.

Overall, after game 2, I'm happy with our Oline and I expect it to get better as the season goes..ditto with our d.

The interior of the line got a huge push way more often than not. Rivera and Gurode were making secondary blocks often.

This board is funny. Throw around the B word (Bust) all you want, but I'll be damned if anyone is going to heap praise on someone by saying the P word.
