Gut Feeling: Predictions for Cowboys - Giants from the Mothership

https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/gut-feeling-staff-predictions-for-cowboys-giants-season-opener

All 4 pick Dallas to win. Saying it will be a close game.

Man, just need to get through today. But there are some decent college games on.
But still waiting all day Sunday. But time for real football.
We will lose because: a) the team did not play any starters in the preseason. They will be sloppy as usual; b) their D-line will full-stop dominate our O-line, which is overrated and now has two areas of sincere weakness; c) defense will struggle with Parker's scheme simply because they have not had enough time and they did not play at all in the preseason; d) Giants have three studs on offense, Dart, Skaterboo, and Nabors. They will find the weaknesses in the defense. I do not think our first-teamers are ready. This will be their preseason opener, and they will commit many penalties and botched plays. The speed of the game doesn't match the practice sessions they had over the summer. I think they lose by 7 or more.

This game is gonna be closer than we think. We could split with them this year.

Cowboys 27
Giants 24

However the final score ends up being on Sunday, I just can't accept anything short of a nice win by our renewed Cowboys. Our front office is to be congratulated for their solid efforts to put forth a winner. I predict a healthy 7-point win by the renewed Dallas Cowboys over a revamped Giants loser.

You may be right. The buzzsaw awaits us in NY. If we can withstand the early energy in the stadium, after the dust settles we should handle them in the 4th quarter. We cannot play them milk toast style. We need to play offense aggressively, pass early and often to set up the run. Screen passes will be very effective against their aggression early.
You’re absolutely right that initial adrenaline surge,, it actually makes you more tired in the second half cause you overspend yourself, and we should take over if we’re behind in the second and third-quarter
But if that doesn’t happen, and we’re just as energized Giants are screwed from the beginning

Agreed

Im reading on here people afraid our D won't gel because of new scheme. But no mention of GIants new scheme on both Offense and Defense.

Im reading fear over DJ Reader, Harris and Gohlston, but mention of Clark, Gary and Williams.

Someone mentioned Dart Skatttaboo and Nabors like they are elite. Yet no mention of Dak CD Lamb.

We spent offseason and preseason games hyped over players like Barwin and an improved Revel. To the point that its almost forgotten we have Downs and a revamped safety room and Kobe Durant.

Yes Giants seem on paper improved. Dart and Skatt are a concussion or 2 away from early retirement and cant seem to get out of their own way there. Nabors might not even play, and if he does will be on a pitch count.

This will be a good game between 2 teams who I suspect will be fighting for division title.

Absolutely nothing should be assumed about rest of season for either team regardless of outcome.

In a way I hope the Giants as good as they believe. I MISS the old NFCE dominance in NFL.

You have us getting rolled ? Why?
I don't think we are as good as we think we are. I think there edge rushers will really be able to exploit our OT's, particularly Steele. I dont think ours will generate much pressure against Andrew Thomas. And Nabors has betten the tar out of Bland before

I read and heard what the pundits have said. But nothing has led me to believe his dominance over them will suddenly stop.
While I hope you're right. The dominance came at the hands of inept Giants coaching staff. Harbaugh is an entirely different story. You don't get to 66-31-1 by being lucky.

Think Nabers is more of a decoy tonight

The only edge in the entire game on either side of the ball that the giants have is at edge rusher. It absolutely can derail the game and this game won’t be easy. But I don’t see it playing out that way. I also don’t think Nabers is going to suit up.

I'm going to be interested tu see how Reese, Downs and Mauigoa all do. Downs might be the hardest to get an ISO on but I suspect the tv crew is going to be all over him all night so we will get a lot of replays of him. My gut says Reese wins rookie defensive player of the year and makes a couple wow plays tonight. Just an easier position to flash at, as he is going to rush the passer a little on passing downs and be in the middle on run downs.

The Ravens he coached >>>>>>>>> The Giants he is coaching now.

You picked the Cowboys to go 9-8.......but lose today.......to the Giants???
