Just using your gut feeling which 2010 starters are gone?

Marion Barber
Chris Gronkowski
Marc Columbo
Leonard Davis
Keith Brooking
Alan Ball

Id like to keep Alan Ball as a backup.

He can play S, CB, and Special teams.

A quality backup imo.

He can also save you a roster spot too with his versatility.

Ball, Spears, R. Williams and Barber.

Brooking, Colombo, Gronkowski will be on the roster at camp competing for starting spots.

oh good i thought he was going to say something different from all the other threads and post that stated the players they wanted gone. Lucky me.

All I know is I don't think I could take another year of watching Barber get stuffed at the line of scrimmage.

Colombo- he's done
Barber- bye bye
Roy (may stay on as 3rd WR but no way he's a starter week 1)
Gronkowski- he'll compete in training camp but I hope he isn't on the team
Spears- lost in FA
Brooking- Lee becomes starter

Hopeful that Leonard Davis and Sensabaugh are replaced/not re-signed but we'll see.

The unrestricted FAs: Ball, Sensabaugh and Spears, possibly even Kosier. (I don't think Dallas will try hard, if at all, to retain them.) Dallas' priorities among the UFAs IMO will be Free and Bowen.

The rest depends on how free agency and the draft go. Barber might be the exception to that since Dallas already has Jones and Choice, but I think the Cowboys think more of Barber than most fans do.

Did people not learn from the Alan Ball ordeal that you don't just hand a backup the starting job?

If you mean that Brooking gets beat out in camp and Dallas dumps him, I'm OK with that. But Brooking doesn't need to go anywhere until Lee proves he's up to the starting job full time.

Even then, there are injury concerns with Lee that would make me reluctant to let go of Brooking unless we find another quality veteran who can step in if necessary.

Sooner or later, the Cowboys need to find out what they have in their draft picks. Ball was a 7th round pick who was a converted CB. It was obviously a horrible move.

We've invested a 2nd round pick in Lee, and it's possible they would have taken Lee in the 1st round if Dez had not been available. I'd rather release Brooking and bring in a veteran to compete for playing time, and may the best man win. Brooking just looks done to me.

Oy.

Spears and Ball.

Yep, I'm serious.

Good to see you coming around on this guy. Cowboys can do better.

With Rob taking over the job i would rather see what he can salvage on defense. I would think he would keep all our LBers but get rid of the slow non-pass rushing DEs like Spears, Igor. I could see Rob picking up a few guys he is familiar with. Maybe a safety.

Offense: I think Roy Williams is gone. I doubt he would take a pay cut to be the 3rd/4th WR. I think Davis/Colombo could be gone. Both were horrible. Maybe Colombo had health issues that caused his poor play? Kosier could be gone too. I think his body has had enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if Barber is kept. Garrett loves him some MBIII.

A quality piece of toast is more like it.

Not starters necessarily but I would not mind trading Barber and bennett if something could be had for them.

Ball is gone, Brooking was lousy in coverage last year, i like his fire but age has caught up to him.

It's a judgment call for Davis and Colombo on the line, if they can prove last year was a down year then they can play at a high level about two more seasons, otherwise this is 1997 all over again and age has wrecked havoc to once proud unit that were held on to for too long.

Buehler better hit 50 touchbacks, all extra points and 90 percent of his field goals next year or I'll personally cut him...with a knife!

My list:

Offense:

Barber
Davis

I would not mind keeping Kosier and Columbo but as back-ups if possible. In my opinion, Roy Williams is staying. It costs more to cut him than keep him, I believe, and he is better than just about any 3rd WR we could pick up.

Defense:

Spears
Ball

I know most of you want to get rid of Olshansky but I just don't see it. We can't attempt to replace the entire defensive front in one off-season and I don't see Spears coming back. Same thing for the safety position, as well as Brooking at LB. Give him less playing time and move Lee in more. Brooking would be fine as a back-up.
