To me its overstating financial advantages of two first round picks. A player of Macks caliber is a player you pay whatever it costs. A player of Macks caliber is going to raise the level off effectiveness of of the players on you defense

Players like Mack help you get good production from bargin bin players and low round draft picks

Don't think Gruden had anything to do with it. Management decided they weren't going to pay him what he wanted and he was holding to his position of not playing till they did. Don't believe they have an expectation of getting someone on his level. They were stuck in the position of just trying to get something!

D-law was a high second and is getting paid, Gregory was a second, Taco was a first. I don’t think you can knock the Cowboys for not going after pass rushers. It has not always gone well but Jerry has drafted a lot of DEs high since he took over.
