Hall of Fame Annoucement Time...Finalists Post #11

Parcells got robbed, but at least they slammed the door on Bettis and the 49ers' old owner.

I can't really complain about Haley not getting in. I tend to think the Hall should reward the best players, rather than the players that won the most.

Chris Carter I think was more a compiler than a playmaker, so I'm not shedding any tears over him either. Frankly, I'd have been disappointed had he made it in in a slot that could have been used on Parcells or an offensive lineman (which are very underrepresented. Very happy they put two in).

5 SB rings, how much more in the future should he wait? Who that got voted in had a career that you remember more than Haley? NONE!!

IF he had won all 5 rings with the 49rs you can bet he would have been in his first year. But since he won most of them as a Cowboy, the POS's that pick them will use any excuse to make him wait.

I always thought a committee chosen by other HOF players should choose those that got in. Not butt wipe POS jerks of mediots.

Parcells brought bullying and extreme paranoia to the NFL, which might explain HOF snubs. Behavior at '96 Super Bowl doesn't help, either.

You guys are funny. Doleman is no more a 49er than Namath was a Ram.

hearing that split votes kept chris carter out..well there should not have been any split votes..andre reed was not on his level..

Chris Doleman does not belong on the hall of fame before charles Haley. And chris carter got snubbed again

Wideouts are being penalized because of the passing evolution. If that's the case, go in and take out runners from the 1960s?

Willie Roaf was damn good. But whenever I see tackles go into the Hall, I know Tony Boselli has to hurt. He was best of his time.

how is it that no wideouts made the cut? no way of knowing b/c it's a secret ballot. my guess: split vote b/c no consensus on best of the 3.

1 last thing b4 writing column: luv cris carter, but michael irvin, rod woodson & dan fouts among contemporaries saying reed more deserving.

Parcells not making Hall of Fame a mystery

<snip>

My guess as to what hurt Parcells. First -- and no one will admit this but it's true -- the way he treated some writers played a factor. Again. no one will ever admit this but writers have long memories and we can be just as petty anyone else. There were likely a few writers in the room who were either treated terribly by Parcells or people they know were and this is a form of payback.

I've also heard some writers over the years (including some in that room) say that Bill Belichick made Parcells and Parcells never made it back to a Super Bowl without Belichick.

But most importantly it is accurate that when Parcells left organizations he left them atomized. His departures were sometimes very ugly and it likely also did not help Parcells that he left the Dolphins in semi-ruins.

But overall his record -- he took the Giants, Jets, Patriots and Cowboys to the playoffs while also making three Super Bowl appearances winning two -- was more than enough to overcome his faults.

HAHAHAH another steeler, Don't get me wrong I feel good for the old man but ****** ...Haley isn't in again unreal..HOF a joke !!! That fat Mike Francesea here in NY was gloating it was in the Bag that Parcells. His exact quote is "Parcellls Is a mortal lock to get it", I just hope C.Martin gets in with him " .... Too bad..

At least they got the OL right.

It will be only the second time in seven years the Cowboys will not have anyone with ties to the team inducted in Hall. 2008 was the last.

Larry Allen is eligible next year.

Next year's class will be a pretty good one. Michael Strahan will be eligible and will be up there. Shields should have gotten in this year. Can two OG's go the same year? Jonathan Ogden probably won't get in quite yet and Warren Sapp may never get in.

From my archives. He screwed some teams over in his lifetime.

why? because so many 49ers' get in?

They lose credibility not putting Parcells in on the first ballot.

I remain convinced the Hall of Fame has an anti-Dallas Cowboys bias, and it frankly pisses me off.

People are saying it already, but Doleman over Haley? 0 Super Bowls to 5?

Cortez Kenendy, a 3 time All Pro in on a regular ticket, but Chuck Haley, a 5 time All Pro, can't even get in on a Senior's Ticket?

How many of you had ever heard of Jack Butler? Be serious here. I study the NFL and I barely know anything about him beyond his career 52 INTs. But hey, he was a Steeler so we gotta get him in. I'm actually shocked they didn't get Bettis too.

I'm not saying these men don't deserve it, but many of our guys do too and they do not get the same consideration. It drives me crazy and I don't mean in a Fine Young Cannibals kind of way.

I think so too. I also think Tagliabue and DeBartolo deserved serious consideration over the likes of Doleman and Kennedy.

This was really a year where you could make a great case you should have more non-players make it than players.

I'd vote for all three over Doleman and Kennedy.
