OK, so today the HoF is a based on the arguments of sports "journalists". Guys that do Pre and Post game reporting in Kansas City, a Newspaper guy from Omaha, and stiffs like Peter King. Does anyone else see something wrong with this? We can all point to Cowboys players (Walt Garrison, Cliff Harris, etc, etc) that damnn well should be in the Hall, but never make it, but what about other teams' deserving players?
I despise the Skins as much as anyone. A season where we don't sweep them is a bad season - unless it is a Super Bowl season, lol. But I have to say, Art Monk, of ANY Commanders player, deserves to be in Canton. But it isn't just the Boys and Skins. There seem to be an inordinate amount of players that don't get in that deserve the honor. And why? Because it is a beauty contest where the people doing the voting never got beyond Pop Warner leagues, much less made it into the NFL.
I think it is time that HoF voting should be done by people who really understand what it takes to get to the HoF. Me and you. Just kidding...kind of.
The exclusion of HoF inductees from the voting process is an atrocity that should have long ago been rectified. They should, at the least, have as much say in who their contemporaries are than some stiff from SI, Omaha, or Kansas City that has never been on the field as a player. Give the HoFers a vote.
Also, the HoF represents OUR players. We the fans. We get a partial vote on the fricking Pro Bowl, why do we not have a say in who should be inducted into the HOF? After all, these players represent us, our cities, our teams, our LOYALTIES. How frickin hard would it be to include us in the vote when they already do so for the Pro Bowl?
And finally, if the pansy @$$ wankers, I mean writers/journalists, feel stiffed by this.....too bad. They've been stiffing great players for decades.
So in closing, I feel that the HoF should be a three-way vote. HoF inductees, fans, and journalists. Perhaps that would right some of the aggregious wrongs that have been perpetrated on past deserving players.
