Hamilton dropping?

4.7 at a pro day is bad.

I love the player, but that in all likelihood is near to or even slower than Jordan Davis, if you add the typical .10 for a pro day 40
Like Diggs, it's the make-up acceleration and closing speed that matters....more so for a Safety. False sense of security throw my way

Apparently ND's running back Kyren Williams also ran slower than his Combine number. Usually Pro Day numbers are goosed, but ND's might be the opposite.

I saw 4.54 reported which is better than his official combine time (4.65).

Either way, Williams is a pet cat of mine. He can run, catch and block….and return punts. Wouldn’t blink twice spending a 5th rounder on him.

My comp. for him is Austin Ekeler.

He likely wouldn't get past Washington or Philly with all their picks.

If he fell to 24, unless there is some other stud that fell, it would be idiotic not to pick him.
I’m hearing from my Washington people that they really like Hamilton.

They likely would prefer a future QB but highly unlikely they pass on a talent like Hamilton. They can use Wentz for 2-3 years

Hes a guy that plays quicker than he tests. Watch him score on a 75 yard run against Clemson’s D and you can see he’s quick enough.

Tough as hell too. How long he can last playing like he does is one thing but for a fifth rounder if you can get 3-4 years out of him, it would be a win.

I just watched some more of him and you’re getting a better version of Kearse.

He shouldn’t be viewed as a CF type but more of a box type safety that can be a stud in zone coverage due to his elite length and + instincts. Dude can blow up the run, blitz and play a quality zone defense.

I think he needs to be used right but dudes a monster and would thrive in that SS / nickel LBr role we use.

He's better at FS than you give him credit for. His range is impressive.

The thing working against Hamilton is positional value. How important are Ss relative to an OT or QB or even WR when picking inside the Top 10?

But at 24? It's a no brainer.

I agree. I just don't like him that early. He is a solid prospect, but guys like Adams / James to my own personal self, were better prospects.

He is starting to slide. He was going top 5, now he could slide into the teens.

I have a feeling that another NFCE team will draft him and he will be a thorn in the Cowboy’s side forever r years to come.

Oh he won't get past Washington unless a guy like Willis is on the board. He is destined for DC IMO

Good. They can keep reaching for the next Sean Taylor for the rest of my life. Hamilton isn't a perennial all pro type

I could see this being a big deal if he didn’t run at the combine…but why are we pretending like that didn’t happen? He ran a 4.59 with multiple timers, lasers, cameras, etc…so what are talking about?

This is overthinking 101. The top 3 pick hype may have been overblown, but I’ll be surprised if he makes it out of the top 12
The actual game film is what matters most then his testing scores, especially at a position where instincts are paramount. If he plays fast, doesn't matter what his timed speed is. People were killing Nick Bolton last year cause of his slow 40 time, he had an excellent rookie season.

I think he can give you quality reps there, but I don’t think that’s using him to the best of his ability if you over do it.

Bingo…40 times are so overrated for the LBr and S position.

I don’t care Dean didn’t run and Lloyd ran in the 4.6s. Their instincts are great and their game speed is rock solid.

I never saw his game and thought top 5 pick. When I watched ND last year JOK popped way more than Hamilton.

Hamilton is a legitimate stud at S. If you watched his games before he got hurt this year and he didn't pop out to you, then you weren't watching close enough. He was a consensus All American last year. He also was a FWAA All American in 2020, JOK's last year at ND.

Honestly, the best comparison I can think of for Hamilton is Troy Polamalu. Way different body types, but I can't think of another safety who gave you both LB-ish hammering against the run and centerfielder range on the back end.

Hamilton is just a stud. He has legit slot-corner man coverage skills, he can play under-zone, he can play deep zone, and he can blitz. I like him closer to the line than further away, but anywhere you line him up, he'll be a beast.

I disagree. We'll see how many all pros the stud makes. I don't see it

He's one of the few players that basically gets rave reviews from all the pundits. His biggest knock from most of the draft guys is not his play but rather the position he plays, as many teams don't value safeties.

If he's there at 24 and we pass, we are a dumb franchise. He won't be, so we will be saved the embarrassment of passing on him for a WR.
