BUT WHY, our opponents didnt draft him so he must suck and we're going to rue this pick. I want someone else, anyone else.

So if we are able to draft someone he must not be worth drafting?

That's a pretty devastatingly pessimistic outlook.

You judge players on highlight videos? You do realize that you can put together a highlight clip of anyone's best 7-8 plays and make them look like the best thing ever, right? There's plenty of YouTube videos that make Roy Williams look like Ed Reed.

I'm not saying Hamlin's a bad player. He just doesn't bring anything we don't already have.

except more INTs in his college career than we have as a team in the last two seasons...

Well, I like him over Pat Watkins...

Didn't read the thread, but I love this pick. Prior to this year Hamlin was one of the best safety's in college, could turn into a good pick!

There is a lot to see in a highlight video, but most fans looking at the wrong thing. Like running backs. Many fans see a RB running 75 yards down field, but what they don't notice is that they ran through a hole the size of the grand canyon to do it. I don't give the RB credit for a run like that.

If you go back and look at Adrian Peterson's college highlights, you will see that he didn't have giant holes to run through yet he still produced those giant gains.

For DBs covering receivers and the like, you have to look at their form and how they got to the ball. How fluid they are in their movements. If their not fluid in how they move and turn their hips, consider them toast when attempting to cover speedster WRs. Safeties playing close to the box, they need to stay square and their attack speed.

Dallas just got HANDS DOWN the best safety in this years draft. I only wish we could have picked up his teammate Chris Clemmons also.

Question: with safety being an OBVIOUS need, why did we waste early picks on LBs and DEs? Why wait so long to go after a safety?

heh if we got the best safety in the draft with 166th pick, why waste earlier picks with him? :laugh2:

Free entertainment, this is almost as good as the e-Gals forums!! Everybody wants us to draft SOMEBODY and when we do... they whine about how they didn't mean THAT somebody- but meant anybody ELSE!

===

As for drafting a STRONG SAFETY... what is wrong with considering that Williams (from Western Illinois) is actually a converted strong safety? Think that just maybe, with his size and speed that on obvious running downs you could see him subbing in at that spot? Hmmm??? Maybe????

:rolleyes:

Hamlin is an interesting pick. He could be boom, bust, or solid. I believe he will be a very good ST player from the getgo. Assuming he makes the team which I think he will do.
