Hamlin talks contract talks

-------------------------------

This is the third interview I have heard with Hamlin in the last few days and I am very impressed with his attitude.

The man wants to stay in Dallas and he never acts like he's annoyed that this deal isn't done yet.

He shoots it straight. His comments in here about knowing the business side of the deal of what the Cowboys want and what he wants is an example of 'keeping it real' and that's what leaders do.

He also talks about what it takes to be a leader and how he sometimes has to get on guys about manning up and taking responsibility. This is the guy I want leading the secondary for the next 4-6 years in Dallas.

By the way, I will have the interview with him from 'Rome is Burning' up in a little while.

Hey DC, I think Hamlin has grownup and has learned from his experiences in Seattle.

I thought Hamlin played pretty good for us in 07 and certainly is one of the better FS in the NFL based on his stats. His 2nd year in our system should also improve his play even more. Just as long as what we pay him doesn't prevent us from resigning Canty or the big guy--DeMarcus Ware--when the time comes then I got no problems with retaining him. He's young enough at 27 to warrant a 5 year deal.

Ok guys, let's say we sign (Hamlin & cheese on rye) to a 6 year for 35 millionish deal . Do we have enough cap to take care of these guys (Canty, Tank, Ware, Columbo) in 08, before the start of 09 free agency or during 09 season?

WE probably can't have them all. I want a D-line of Canty - Tank - Ratliff  , so is Columbo the 1st to be sent packing. Ware is a no-brainer.

Come on Jerry, YOU CAN DO IT !!!!!
