Hampton over Booker

I have doubts too. But if this offensive line does what it’s suppose to do it might not matter who’s running the football. We need a number 2 and Mingo has that potential.
You have yards before contact and yards after contact. If we can improve our yards before contact by just 1 yard, that’s huge. Blue isn’t gonna break tackles but if he can just find a hole and get 4 yards with a few splash plays we improve run game

How many of you guys would be happier right now if we went Hampton over Booker in round 1?
Personally I would have been happy if they grabbed Judkins at 12.

I’m so sick of the “oh that’s a huge reach” crowd.

Who cares what his “rankings” are. If he’s your guy he’s your guy.

I have more respect for teams that over draft players because that’s who they want or need the most.

Do you think any GM would not draft parsons now in the top 5 because they had him “ranked” at 12?

That’s a rhetorical question.

The whole reach thing doesn’t make sense to me.

Would anyone consider Tom Brady a reach now in the first round?

This teams lack of risk taking the last decade has been detrimental.

How about we build a line so good anyone can run behind it? Chiefs hof line made priest Holmes look amazing and he did nothing with the ravens beforehand

I guess it all depends if you want more talent at the RB position or the OG position.

Absolutely not I.
Never take a RB based on testing.
No position has more fool's gold throughout NFL draft history than RB.
Always favor production and game tape.

RB has so many soft skills: pass protection, soft hands, ball control, vision, change of speed and direction. Ability to absorb contact and hold up physically.
Last time I checked, they still know how to play football in Texas. Fastest runner in this draft, also.

Still depends upon team and in the NFC East offensive line is pretty damn important no matter who is carrying the ball and working play action.

Is reprisal a Christian name?

There's definitely players I wanted over Booker (Nolen, Harmon, Grant, Williams), but I prefer the Booker pick over Hampton if we're going to run a power gap scheme. There's much less of a drop off at RB in the mid to late rounds where there's quality starters compared to OL where it's project shots in the dark.

always build inside out. doesnt matter who is your RB or QB or WR if you cant block for them. I would rather have a 10 year stud at guard than a 5 years and done running back.

If the line opens holes then it only matters what the RB does at the second level

Is he a 6 yards and go down kinda back
Or is he a threat to take it to the house

How many would have been happier with Golden over Booker ?
Not me! This O line now has the potential to be dominant.

I thought we were good at O line going into the draft, but Booker, is a difference maker, and he was the best available player on the board.

Golden’s state we’re pretty mediocre too.

only draft a RB in the 1st if he is a generational type, like Barkley. Zeke had the talent to be one and played like one for a few years until his bad habits caught up with him. Jeanty has the potential to be generational. I didnt see anyone else in the draft being generational including Hampton.

First downs and Red Zone both were improved...despite the crybabies.

You build an OL with LT and C, then other ?positions
We dont have a LT or RT and C is unknown
Spending multiple rd1 picks on OG with so many other gaping holes is a poor use of resources IMO
You’re wrong: I am positive Smith can play LT. We have a 320lb mauler at Center who is only going to get better. Booker can play LT guard. We have 5-6 solid players to plug in at RT and RG.

It might be a good idea to actually bother to read the ongoing discussion before jumping in

I know Smith can play LT well
I think Smith should play LT and in that case im ok with this pick
I know (from their previous comments) that they will not play Smith at LT

That is the issue
