Is everyone convinced that Hampton is the clear cut RB 2?

I’m not.

Henderson is a special runner in my book and he can do more than Hampton.

Hampton may be able to carry more of the load but Henderson to me is a bigger threat on the football field.

I would be more than happy with Henderson in the 2nd. Hampton may end up going late 1st and being off the board at 44.

I think both will be good pros, but I'm a big Henderson fan.

I think many are going to be surprised, I sense a high rb isn’t in the cards this year. As for Hampton/Henderson it isn’t close for me, one has durability issues and played on a super team, the other was is offense. Hampton all day for me!

I don't think it's a slam dunk, actually.

Henderson has elite playmaking ability. I can see a team taking him high and keeping him in the same role he played in college. Like a poor man's Gibbs.

Would be happy if we came out of this draft with one of these 5
1) Jeanty of course
2) Hampton
3) Johnson
4) Henderson
5) Judkins

Well either they pay Rico Dowdle or RB high will be in the cards. They don't have any other choice.

Henderson’s stop/start ability and side to side movements are elite.

Hampton is a 220 lb bruiser with 4.4 speed. He is a bell cow RB. He runs for 100 yards against stacked boxes. His contact balance helps him break tackles.

Hampton doesn’t have the elite shiftiness of Henderson, but he does everything well. He is a complete back.

Based on what we have heard, their plan is to keep Dowdle and pair him up with a draftee. Now if they are unable to keep Dowdle, do they sign another fa or do they look towards the draft to revamp the entire positional group? A player that we should watch is Jamaal Williams who was just cut by the Saints where his RB coach is now with the Cowboys.

I imagine most, if not all teams, will have Henderson over Johnson.

It's not close for me.
I put more thought into the comparisons for Henderson

Id say Spiller is his mid level. Spiller was pretty good but only really had one great year.

I think Warwick Dunn is his top end comp

Dunn was a 180 LB scat back. Henderson has over 20 lbs on him. He is not undersized.

I like Henderson too. But - he had a serious foot injury a few years ago requiring surgery. It’s called a “pedal foot fracture”. This injury caused Henderson to miss 13 games between ‘22 and ‘23.

Not as bad as a knee injury but it does give me a little pause when comparing him to Hampton.

Again I like Henderson but I do not see him as equal or better than Hampton.

After Jeanty there are like 4/5 guys you could make an argument for as RB2.

I also don’t think the gap from Jeanty to the next guy is as big as people are making it out to be.

Dowdle wants to get paid 6 million a year. The Cowboys are not paying him anywhere close to that type of money. Bobby Belt said this last night. Running back is a huge priority in the first 3 rounds along with defensive line and wide receiver.

I don't know where you're getting your numbers from; he missed 8 games between '22 and '23.

And this foot injury you speak of was so serious that he played in all 16 games last year.

Still think they sign a veteran at their price range and pair him up with a draftee.

It's apples-to-oranges comparing two RBs with entirely different skillsset.

If they resign Dowdle, Henderson makes a lot of sense to me. I think he's at worst a Pollard or Gibbs type of runner that can flip the field and pair with another back to share the load. This would also be the case if the plan is to let Dowdle walk and draft two RBs instead.

If don't resign Dowdle and team is looking for a bellcow type of back then Hampton would be the guy.
