Hangovers in the Garrett Era

Well I was hoping we could enjoy this one for a day or so before this thread popped up but

That has been our recent history... We'll learn more about this team one game at a time.

The defense does seem different so far. Offense? Not so much. I'm hoping I'm wrong.

I see what you're saying. I dont really agree with it. Romo and company looked fairly decent to my eye against the Giants. Granted not so good in the KC game, especially in the 2nd half, but I still think Romo's shot had worn off. I cant remember seeing him pass with so much lack of speed and accuracy.

Sorry for the buzz kill, but yeah that was the point -- that we find out a lot about this team next week.

Well, I am already looking forward to the SD game because we won today so some of us are enjoying the day. I spent half the week last week trying to figure out how we lost after holding a team to 17 points. You say one game at a time and right now it is the Chargers. I agree we will see what THIS team is about one game at a time. Past history is not predictive of the the future so I am willing to wait and see what this team can do.

Anyone can say the right things. Walking the the talk is the hard part and what separates great ones from the average. And 8-8 is average as it gets.

yes, but it still does not negate that the right things should be said to the players.

I expect a poor performance in San Diego. Not only because of this but you also have the Chargers losing a close one on the road and now coming home.

Unfortunately this thread is just one example of how a portion of our fanbase copes with the Cowboys coming out and getting a dominant win.

Personally, I have no real interest in making generic comparisons between this year's team and previous year's. Clearly Garrett has a vision for the type of program he wants to build here and he's been going about executing that vision over the last few seasons. I believe now we're beginning to see that come to fruition. There's been a lot of turnover on this roster since he took over and their arrow is definitely pointing up at this point. Look at this team right now vs the moment he took over when they were a 1 win team back in 2010.....that's a drastic difference.

I couldn't care less how this team played after a big win last year, or the year before that, or the year before that. I believe Garrett will have this team ready to play next week and I think they'll come out and do what they need to do.

I hope so. I'd hate for this place to be calm and optimistic for too long...good to know it'll be back to normal in a week!

:p

Wouldn't that sort of be the point
Is this team good enough to win against a decent team playing at home after a loss, themselves coming off a dominating performance ?

Let's see

The game in KC was a tough, hard fought game and we came up 1pt. short. KC was stacked with intangibles in their corner and it was going to take a supreme effort to win. Didn't happen. OK.

The team regrouped and played inspired , smart, violent football and handed the Rams an epic beat down. 3 games in, and I think this team expects to win football games. No more hoping for the best, no more accepting injury as an excuse. This team feels different because it is.

The Dallas Cowboys are a good football team that has not seen its last victory or defeat this season. But beginning last mid season, the team has a competitive spirit that I think is tangible. We are no longer bully-able. We are however, capable of doing some ourselves. In today's NFL that is a very, very good trait to have. If a team does not play excellent football this team will beat you. Period.

Yep, a portion of the fan base is not content with mediocrity and wants better, go figure

And regarding comparing to last year , you would be making those comparisons if the team had been 13-3 the last 2-3 years

I agree. We'll know next week, if this team is really different this year. I have doubts, base on the recent history you mentioned.

8-8 and 8-8 doesn't seem like a drastic difference to me.

You think a portion of the fan base is not content with mediocrity? HAHA. I'm pretty sure no portion of the fan base is "content" with mediocrity. We all want the Cowboys to be better than mediocre.

We all want post season success, we all want division titles, we all want championships.

And you know what? 3 games into the 2013 Cowboys certainly look anything but mediocre.....and they deserve credit for that.

And BTW, your last statement is completely baseless and pointless.

He is just saying he is willing to judge this team off of what they do this year and he is willing to wait and see what the result will be. He didn't say he was content with mediocrity and content with past seasons. Obviously your glass is half empty but I suspect that is not all.

Yes I agree but what coach doesn't say the right things to his team. I would like to see some of the talk turn into results on the field.

I'm sure Campo said the right things and so has Landry. Difference is one is HOF coaching legend and the other one is butt of all jokes.

In the post you quoted I was clearly referring to the drastic difference between the Cowboy's roster in 2010 and their roster now.

I was comparing their rosters. Not records.

i wouldnt compare garrett to either of those two. But its up to the players to get results on the field
