Those tired of the "Are You Ready for Some Football" song should rejoice. It is officially gone.

Always hated that song... even the original, but it did get me in the mood for football as it was around for so long...

Ok, I supported the one-week suspension but this is an outrage. Madonna compared a certain Senator from Arizona to Hitler, yet she's being rewarded with a multi-million-dollar Super Bowl halftime show. The insidious double standards never end.

The song sucked. When the Cowboys played the Skins he didn't even sing, barely.

I'm sure ESPN can come up with a lead in that's better. SNF's song has always fired me up. Every time I hear it, I get a flashback to that game where Romo winked at T.O. to change the play to a go route and they caught it on camera.

Problem is, it wasn't the song that got him bounced. Retaining his services and having him come up with a new song makes much more sense.

It was time for it to go. Better publicity to send it off with a controversy.

Justin Beiber to be new MNF lead....no links just speculation by me and 7 million 12 year old girls and R2A

Not really. Last time I checked ESPN wasn't affiliated with **** Germany and didn't want to be :laugh2:

I think the move is ignorant. I think ESPN is ignorant, but that is nothing new.

Like or hate the song is a huge branding for Monday Night Football. Everyone that knows anything about NFL football would know that song within two seconds of listening to it.

I liken this to McDonalds tossing out the golden arches. A huge load of moronic decision making.

I liked it and I hated it at the same time. As long as they continue to keep the MNF theme with the crashing helmets, then I am satisfied. Actually, what would be nice would be to show an intro with highlights of players from both teams using the MNF theme and conclude it with the smashing of the 2 helmets.....

That would make sense .. if Williams were a **** or **** sympathizer. Instead, he's a celeb who made a careless analogy. If ABC/ESPN bounced every celeb who said something offensive, they'd have to cut ties with half of the panelists on The View.

Is that what those things are? i was sure they were a tribute to Jayne Mansfield. ;)

Count me as one of the fans of the lead-in song each week. I loved it.

This is something which can be likened to the Martellus Bennett/helmet video incident. Individuals who connect themselves with a corporate entity must always remain cognizant of their public opinions. Corporations value their opinions above all else. Employees, no matter what level of fame or fortune they might hold, will not supercede that stance. Ever.

Give 'em hell, DE. The buck stops here. The only thing we have to fear, is trolls themselves. Ask not what the Zone can do for you ...
