Is he 100%? What type of impact do you all see him having this year assuming he's healthy?
I think last season showed how important Swaim and Hanna were to our offense. I have no numbers to prove it but it just seems like the run game was better with one of those two being in the game

I keep thinking the same thing, they went with Looney in some cases, and had to use inferior options in other cases, when you know they would have preferred to have the whole playbook. The outside runs and cutbacks should be better with our blocking TEs.

Yah... I think this may really help the OL capture the edge and open up the outside lanes as you point out.

As an aside-- with Hanna and Swaim returning, Rico's progress, and the way Witten has been looking this preseason (lean and fast), TE may have quietly emerged as arguably one of our deepest positions.

I'm expecting the Cowboys to be able to run on the Giants with Hanna back in the lineup. Here's why:

1) Collins is an upgrade in run blocking over Free
2) Hanna (and Swaim) are upgrades in blocking over Escobar
3) Hanna can catch too - when thrown to (does he still have his speed? Not sure)

He will help in setting the edge vs JPP and OV. In tandem with either T Smith or Collins - and the fact that he is gonna run mad - I expect to see Zeke run wild this year. Hanna will be a big reason. I'm happy he's back.

I really wish they spread it out 5 wide. That way it negates the possibility of the Giants in blitzing. These two and three TE schemes really just plays into the Giants hands. They know where the ball is going to. It ain't going to Hanna or Swaim. Its going to Witten.

Going 5 wide encourages blitzes as it becomes a race to release the ball or take a sack.

Going multiple TE sets disguises run/pass options more effectively, as well as protects play action passing (Dak was one of the highest rated play-action QBs las year).

I had written Hanna off. I never thought he would recover from his knee issues well enough to hold up to an NFL schedule again. Happy to have been wrong about that and happy that he's able to continue his career. Hopefully he adds yet another dimension to an already dominant offense.

Yep, having him back is huge. He is an excellent blocker and can make a few plays in the passing game.

Last year at ny we had neither Hannah or swaim

I am looking forward to seeing Zeke throw a shoulder @ JPP and chip him on his way to catching passes out of the backfield...remind him that there are no easy paths to #4

I think he does a great job of blocking and allowing Zeke to capture the edge. Go Cowboys

Having Hanna and Swaim both makes a difference. I seen Hanna catch some passes in Preseason and he looked good. I still remember Swaim hammering the Commanders player last season in Week 2 along the sidelines. I loved that because I remember Tate doing that to Sean Lee. I wish it would of been Tate that got cracked but it was still nice to see.

Hanna was still having some rest days due to his knee earlier in Tcamp. I do agree he is what we hoped Witten could be in the blocking dept.

Let them blitz. Prescott was the fourth best quarterback in the league against the blitz last year.

Whitten is still the best blocking. Hanna and Swain were.just better than Escobar. Hannas blocking is more.about being an obstruction not necessarily moving guys out

Swaim is similar to Hanna.

They are precision blockers that know the intricacies of the scheme really well. Neither is an over-powering type blocker but they get the job done with excellent technique.

Rico will (someday) be on another level physically if he can perfect technique and learn the intricacies of the scheme.

Witten can't perform some blocks that he did in the past. The across the backfield block is now a problem for him because he gets there late. Hanna/Swaim are better for those types of blocks.
