I think Armstrong takes a big step forward this season. He will be splitting time with Fowler and Williams. But he makes the most of his opportunities even if in limited playing time.
He is still young enough to improve and get that next big contract so he will be hungry to prove so.

Maybe they finally hit on one of those mid round DE draft picks they missed on before.
His 1st few seasons, I had him grouped in with those other failures (but with better potential) then I started coming around on him a bit more as his limited time and his performance last season turned me around somewhat. Quinn is the reason for his improvement plus sometimes it takes that 3 years as well.

Still irritates me that they handed this guy 6.5 million a year when they are so frugal otherwise.

And a clear panic move nonetheless.

Overall I'm fine with shedding the underperforming contracts.....but then turn around and do that??

I mentioned that a few days ago, I thought they panicked from losing Gregory.
However.
Look at it this way. They got a player with the same production in sacks in half the plays for less than half the cost.:thumbup:

Add Fowler who could also match Gregory's production. So for say, $11.5 million opposed to $15 million, they can get double production. :flagwave:

Yes the old i think he will be good this year because i believe in rainbows and magic but no actual substance.

He would never start on any other team. 2.5 of his sacks were in blowouts where he played the majority of snaps and the team dropped back to pass every play.

If you watch him play hes a backup de and that is it. 25-30% snaps guy. Front office fumbled gregory so here we are. Gregory was a much better player.

why he put up about the same numbers as Gregory and yet getting paid much less
Certainly you know that sometimes a sack is a result of a teammates effort, and/or how the offense blocks you etc.

Sack numbers alone don't always tell the story, good or bad.

As far as having the talent to get to a QB on a given play, Gregory is much better.

BUT if you want to say that Armstrong at 2/13 beats the hell out of 5/70 for Gregory, I'm very on board with that one.

I'm going to root for Armstrong to be a beast this year. A gypsy told me it's probable. As far as his birthday is concerned, happy I couldn't care less birthday.

Hate away...
I believe he will be because he had shown so. Just because you want to hate, don't rain on another man's rainbow. :p:grin:
There is already way too much rain in this place.

I don't even know how many reps Armstrong is even gonna get.

I expect Sam Williams to be a big part of things early....but even if he isnt, Armstrong would figure to be behind Fowler and maybe Basham for RDE snaps.

That alone makes the salary curious. Not like I ain't rooting for him, but I failed to see anything special at all about him in four years.

sacks alone are not and yet the numbers across the board are fairly even, difference is Armstrong contract is not double digit and yet Gregory is.

Armstrong should have a good opportunity to put his best self on display in the upcoming season. I'm hoping for him to find himself enjoying his best year yet. Sometimes, it's just a matter of opportunity meeting talent at the right time. Hopefully, that could be what 2022 represents for him. Happy Birthday, Dorance and good luck in the future.
