Bedford Wynne, Clint Murchison's partner originally called them the Dallas Steers. Tex Schramm vetoed that thankfully. But yes, the original contracts given to Don Meredith and Don Perkins were with the team called the Dallas Rangers.

Oh, and the actual anniversary is yesterday. Today is the anniversary of that article, the 28th is the actual day that the team was awarded to Dallas.
