We will see what happens, but it's interesting that coaches passed on adding another high-level DT from a draft that was loaded for picking. That's quite a bit of confidence in Mazi.
This is 100% true, but we also need to tell the full story that a good chunk of the war room wanted to go DT round 1. I suspect this had a lot more to do with how the draft fell than confidence in Mazi.

I never heard that one, most wanted a DT.
Was it real, or made up on here by someone?

https://bleacherreport.com/articles...fting-walter-nolen-deciding-tyler-booker-pick

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said team officials deliberated between Booker and another prospect in the first round throughout Thursday. That player was still available with the No. 12 pick. According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Ole Miss defensive lineman Walter Nolen was the prospect in question.

Ok, but it was a reporters belief. No one on the team said it, or hinted at it.
As to who the player was its reporters guessing, but the story originated from Jerrys quote about them debating between Booker and another first round player. I'm not going back 10 pages to find it, but during the draft is when the story came out and its in one of the threads about Booker. Several reporters seemed to agree it was a DT. IDK if it was ever confirmed to be Nolan or someone else.

Well, now we will get 15 years of comparisons between Booker and Nolan and their NFL careers.

..geez man, but I'm selling. I dont think he is, What they thought he was.

I bet he loses he starting job this year, to the Rook .

The fact that Invisalign sponsors him is perfect because he’s been invisible since we drafted him. If he’s still in the league in 2028 I’ll be shocked.
.....just got to make it through the 2028 season and he can be fully vested in the NFL Retirement program......after that he can stay on the couch and become a whale.

Drafting for need due to none participation in FA.
