Happy 81st birthday to Roger Dodger. The greatest Cowboy and greatest Cowboys QB.
  • NFL HOF
  • 11 wins in the playoffs
  • 4 NFC championship wins
  • 2 Super Bowl wins
  • 85-29 as a starter
The only Cowboys jersey I have framed in my Cave.

Just learned Craig Morton's birthday is also today. He's a year younger than Roger.

I wasn't nearly as fond of him. :muttley:
But he had the longest career in the NFL of any Cowboys drafted QB. And if not for Roger , he probably would have led us to our first championship.

Morton did lead us to our first SB. Not many SB QB’s were benched in NFL history. But none ever had Staubach on the bench.

Craig would go on to become first NFL qb to ever lead 2 different teams to a SB.

Most people don’t remember that Morton was the QB who led the Cowboys to their first NFC Championship in 1970. And he later won an AFC championship in Denver in 1977 but lost to that great 77 Cowboys team that win SB XII

The best decision Landry ever made was benching Morton for Staubach. Roger took the team to another level.
