I was at a game at Texas Stadium and after the game, we hung out for about an hour or so to wait for the players to come out to board the bus the came on. That is when I saw Rodger after the game, and he did not stop to shake hands with anyone he walked straight to get on the bus. That is when I did get to talk and see Too Tall and Thomas Henderson come out together...they stayed and talked a lot of us fans. That was Dallas Cowboy football.

Can’t help but admire this great man. Too bad that he had to wait till his late 20s to play in the NFL

i heard that after he graduated from the Naval Academy he had the choice to serve in the USA but instead volunteered to serve in Vietnam during war time instead.

the Cowboys were lucky to have been blessed with his presence

Wow - did not know that.
And Landry had a hard time deciding who should be the starting QB back then.
Landry wanted no part of scrambling QBs because they got hurt too often. and remember the year after the boys won the SB Rodger got injured scrambling and pretty much was out the regular season. Then performed his first miracle comeback against the 49rs in the playoffs.

Just learned Craig Morton's birthday is also today. He's a year younger than Roger.

I wasn't nearly as fond of him. :muttley:
He was never the same after the shoulder injury Happy birthday to both
