Since i'm retired, my Happy Hour starts early. My rant today is about.....you guessed it, Garrett!
Seems like he and the team got a fire lit under their butts on Sunday, why can't that fire burn consistently?
Is it, because they are America's team and they have a hard time dealing with the hoopla, pressure, etc?
Or, is it because our HC is to soft on them and his staff? Or, are we not as good as some of us think we are?

In my not so humble opinion, I feel that our HC is not feared and respected by his players, he is liked, but not feared and respected. They don't see any repercussions coming from dragging and loafing. Now, before the garrett lovers get bent outta shape, this may or may not be Garrett's fault. Has JJ taken all of his manhood? What do you think?? Salud!!

I'm impressed... a really, really early happy hour. You, sir, are 'da man!

To be fair, we got about 6 inches of snow last night and I just can't bring myself to fire up the snow blower or shovel. Surely, it will melt soon. I was thinking of starting happy hour a bit early myself

And, on Garrett -- while I would never wish a loss on the Cowboys to affect a much needed change, I felt that a loss vs the Eagles would have sent JG home early. I have to agree, though, with your assessment of JG. He reminds me of one of those managers that brings organization and process to the work place, but not necessarily a true sense of urgency or, dare i say, accountability.

your HC can't be feared when the real head coach is Jerry.
JG might be running the show but Jerry is the one pulling the strings.
change coach and result will be the same.

I've said it before JJ made him a eunuch.

its a culture of a swamp of mediocrity.

starts at the top from the guy who fired Jimmy, straight down to a head coach who just has to do enough to keep the fans interested.

every week they have some convoluted plan on how we are still in the playoffs when we are CLEARLY not in the playoffs.

IMO it is a culture issue and has been since forever. I do think the players respect Garrett though because they seem to always respond when his back is against the wall. IMO Garrett does not know how to maintain intensity for an entire season which is why we see the team go through lulls. They will be really up for 1-3 games and seem to hit some low point regardless of the opponent. Many times this lull equals a loss or multiple losses.

Agree to a certain extent. Jerry does post game analysis that should be done by a coach. He is much more involved with the team but he is the owner and cant hold that against him. His decisions are not always the best for the team as well. However when the team is on the field all game decisions are on the coach, the challenges, the time management, the motivation, the game management, etc. I don't think Jerry calls Garrett on the field to intervene. While the overall structure is controlled by Jerry, the implementation of it is all on the coach.

Sometimes people have success in their life despite those in charge.

Garrett’s time is coming to an end. The players have to be tired of his act. That said I think the players self motivated to beat up the Eagles. These guys should never have to wait until the season is on the line to motivate themselves. They do though. Why? Well the culture is shot. Not a serious football organization. More akin to a marketing organization. Fish rots from the head down in Dallas but Garrett really does suck.

I've been screaming culture ever since Jimmy Johnson left that's the last time this team really had any culture football culture anyway
And the lack of that culture or should I say the start of the decline of the culture that Johnson built was that we should have won four Super Bowls in a row the lack of discipline which would have been our third Super Bowl really showed up in the game against San Fran somehow they managed to pull it together the next year I think that was the Real Player leadership that year

Yes I agree however players know who has the last word which is the problem.

Garretts main issue IMHO is he isn't as detailed, diligent, demanding of his coaches as he should be. he gives them too much leeway to do their job and either doesn't or can not make a change without lobbying congress (the jones family). How long did it take Garrett to get tired of Linehans game plan to finally interject himself and make a change at the tail end of last year. It was Garrett that incorporated Moore and Neusmyer (sp?) into the offensive game plan even though Linehan still called plays. Does he have ability to hold them accountable or does he have to wait for to Jones family to allow him to take action.
