America's a great country. A lot of the people who criticize America and praise other countries sometimes don't know what they're talking about. They don't know how bad things can be elsewhere.

...not July 4th
Not pickin' nits but I'd been curious about this before, myself, and found this...

Fourth of July is Independence Day
The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, is a federal holiday that celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of the Independence on July 4th, 1776.

Calling it by either name is apparently acceptable. I'd always thought it was exclusively called Independence Day, too. The government must have acquiesced to the public's use of the Fourth of July, or 4th of July, as a valid name for the celebrated holiday, as well.

I know if July 4th falls on a Saturday, it is celebrated on Friday, July 3rd. And if July 4th falls on a Sunday, the holiday is then celebrated on Monday, July 5th.

So... Happy 4th of July/Independence Day, like Yeager posted... whichever is most to everybody's liking. :)

God Bless the United States of America. May its citizens enjoy the fruits bought by the labors and blood of those good men and women before us keeping eternal vigilance against any tyrannies of those who hold sway.

I saw 25 service members get their citizenship at the White House this morning.

Put a big smile on my face. Happy Independence Day to all. July 4th is the best holiday of the whole year.

It's quite amazing that the United States is only as old as the lives of three 80-year old people put end on end. In the lifespan of just three octogenarians, America has gone from a piece of paper saying "We the People" to being the world's largest economy and one of the world's leaders in science, technology, aerospace, computing, medicine, and education.

For future historians who like underdog stories, there will be few tales more interesting for them to tell their children than of how a group of unwanted, ragtag immigrants on a boat from Europe eventually became the most powerful nation in the world.
