Lots of negativity around here after PS week 1. Sure the offense sucked and Rush is terrible. The defense though...

Last night was a good old fashioned road domination. Against a good team. Sure most starters were no where but we complain about depth all the time so nice to see our 2/3/4s dominate their 2/3/4s. Wright sucks. We know but in reality he was never going to be a factor. I am net negative on these boards. All for extremely well founded and analyzed reasons. Yet last night was pretty good. Hill standout. Turpin, when was the last time this team had that type of guy? Cox solid. Safety play was super solid and our safety play has sucked for over a decade. OL looked better. Sure Tolbert doesn’t know the NFL rules on being inbounds but he is going to be fine. They cut down on the penalties. Offense was good. Defense continues to be good. Turpin is going to be fun. K? Worry about that later. All good.

You guys feeling better or what?

No sir. Kinda hungover.

Obviously liked what I saw last night but we are still committing a lot of penalties. Yes, they were flagged for 8, but there were numerous moments where the refs let them play. That won't happen during the regular season.

Love what I'm seeing from the run D during the PS. Can't remember a time recently where the Cowboys actually had 10-12 NFL players on the DL.

I hope you aren't getting overly excited about a pre season win against scrubs. I liked the two punt returns, but the rest of the game was ............ pre season football against scrubs.

I'm not upset about the win, or the way the team played. That said, if not for Turbo's 2 TDs that may not have been the end result. Hopefully, he can be a difference maker in the regular season, if necessary.

Our scrubs won against their scrubs. What have we learned from that game?

Nothing. So no, I don't feel better. But I also don't feel worse. Just waiting for September 11th and wondering why you people are getting so worked/hyped up about losses and wins and bad or good plays. All that means nothing and only the coaches really know where we stand right now. And probably not even them.

We haven't even asked the prom queen for a date yet and you guys already talking about who's taking her home. Chill.

I personally found so much to feel better - and to be genuinely excited about.
  1. We’re running the ball consistently well.
  2. We’re stopping opponents running games.
  3. We have at minimum a quality kickoff and punt returner.
  4. Safety play and depth looks better than if has in years.
  5. The defensive line looks talented and deep as well.
  6. Tyler Smith looks like he’ll be a force.
I saw a lot of things to get excited about last night.

Agreed.

But San Diego has a good squad... Arguably a SB contender and if the Cowboys backups can come out be the equal of SD's backup... I'm good with that.

On offense I think Will Grier took a step forward as back up just seems he looks more comfortable in the pocket and throws a better pass . And to me anyway after Turpin obviously has a seat in the WR meeting room Vasher & Houston where are they ?? To me I like Brandon Smith not sure he makes the squad but Smith catches everything thrown at him .

Really like Sam Williams guy drove the tackle straight back into the QB and it allowed the other edge to come around and destroy the QB . And Tafua ? Where did he come from . Love to see more of 52 Tafua in the Seattle game . Is there a place for him ?

I now have hope we start outside of our own 20, instead of in the shadows of our own goal posts.

However, I see it now. So our drives could be 10 to 20 yards less on average, because of a good punt return. So the offense may be 5th ranked. Somehow I see many blaming Dak the offense is worse.

Senior season Mika Tafua at Utah led the PAC 12 in Sacks and pressures . Hello . Always room for an edge who has high motor create disruption . Play him in first quarter against some Seahawks starters last pre season game let’s see 52 make the squad .

MM likes him from what I seen last week.
They are easily 11 deep on the DL already without Tafua.
PS guy for sure. But can they trade 1 or 2 for some OL help. I hope so, hate to see them release and claimed by another team. Especially if an NFCE team.

However, we as fans also typically over rate our own players, as most fans do for there own team. We think we can make a trade but never do.

I think 2 or 3 DL and a RB can get us a few later round picks. Dowdle and Davis look good at RB for depth. But I am not counting on any trades.

If Tafua doesn’t make the squad no way he gets to go PS a lower rung team with first up choices will grab him , a Jets Lions Jax situation .

I like Jefferson over Gifford as well and Malik Davis as 3rd RB with Will Grier back up QB . Roster churn time .

A lot of the Dline and players such as Sam Williams, Tyler Smith etc are going to look a whole lot better with talent around them. Sam for instance is going to look 50 times better with Dlaw, Parsons, etc rushing too. Tyler the same when Tyron is right next to him.

Having said all that I’m finding away to keep some of these RB’s. They look really good.

So what if the punt return team keeps giving the offense great field position every game and the offense fails to capitalize on the opportunities given to them? Who gets the blame if the offense doesn't do their part?

Hey Maher barely missed a 61 yarder and the other kicker who’s name I don’t want to mangle didn’t miss a FG or a PAT . Either one of these gentlemen can open up the season . Doesn’t seem as bad as it looked when camp opened .
