Harbaugh to the 49ers

Now is a good time for Luck to change his mind .

New coach...probably new coordinator....losing several OL....It can only get worse next year.

Well, looks like I'm going to get to see Harbaugh on the sideline when I go see the boys play SF next year.

Filed to ESPN: Jim Harbaugh is expected to agree to a five-year contract with the 49ers.

Bad move by Harbaugh. The 49ers are a lousy organization with bad ownership.

He should have stayed in college.

I figure Luck and Harbough had to have already talked about this behind closed doors. Seems like Luck wants to be there regardless of Harbough.

wow luck sure he wants to go back I have a bad feeling nothing good will come out of him going back to school. I know he wants to get his degree but man he will lose alot of money and risk injury.

Luck was staying put regardless as he had another week to think about it.

If he IS going to the 49ers, one thing is clear.

Money is not his main motivating factor unless the 49ers dramatically increased their offer.

Miami was offering much more, even michigan was reportedly offering more money than what was reported the 49ers were offering.

Jim Harbaugh's five-year deal with the 49ers will be worth $25 million.

49ers called press conference for this afternoon. Harbaugh to be introduced. Suspense over.

He risks ending up on the other side of the US and the NFL in a lockout by declaring for the draft. By waiting till the supplemental draft, he could potentially avoid a lockout AND being drafted by Carolina, since any one of the 6 wins or less teams (49ers anyone?) could win the 1st pick via lottery.

Miami decided to go a different direction, their original ~7m/year offer was no longer available to him. Stanford's was just over 5m/year, and Michigan's in the 6m/year range reportedly. Glazer reported last night it could possibly get done above 6m/year, so my guess is the 49ers offer is the highest one available to him. Factor in that he doesn't have to move from his current home in Menlo Park, I'd say the 49ers offer is the best financially speaking.

Now, organizationally speaking, that's another story.

Watch out. We know what happened the last time the 49ers hired the head coach of Stanford.

The only thing I can think of is that Harbaugh wants to stay in California. I mean, it's not hard to figure really. He went to High School in Palo Alto, he has children who attend Oregon State and his kids all have ties to Palo Alto. He coached at San Diego prior to his gig at Stanford and before that, in Oakland.

It makes a lot of sense as to why he would take less money to coach for San Francisco, as opposed to Miami.

Cowboys - Garrett and 49ers- Harbaugh

The rivalry will be renewed.

49ers will now be the preseason NFC West champs for the... what... 5th year in a row?

Stanford is about 45 minutes from SF - about 30 from the proposed new stadium. He has some young kids -- I expect this is about taking an offer that allowed him to not uproot the family

San Diego and Palo Alto are about a million miles from each other ... geographically and culturally - this is likely more about getting 5 million a year without having to move
