Hard Knocks is showing what is important to the franchise

Jerry cares about the brand more than winning.

Several of these contracts were good for the brand but horrible for the teams chances of winning a Super Bowl.

Hard knocks is just icing on the cake.

Regardless.. I will enjoy hardknocks. The hype and overrating of our team and players during that time will be the most fun part of our season until about 7 weeks in we see nothing about this team has changed and another year has been wasted.
I hope after week one in 2014 you just turned off the nfl. You obviously already know how the season will go.

Nobody wants to win more than Jerry Jones.
What evidence do you base the opinion that JJ wants to win more than anyone? The winning owners of the last 25 SBs wanted to win bad enough to hire someone else to make football decisions.

If you want to gauge how bad someone wants to win, ask yourself- are they willing to make any change necessary to win? If the answer is no, they don’t want to win that bad.

yep if he wanted to win more than anything, he would get a real gm and would leave the coaching to the coach.

Oh really, he is doing everything he can to win. Do you really not know that Jerry isn't making the football decisions?

That’s not what Jerry says. When asked, he says he’s making the decisions. There’s other people involved advising him but you’re not paying attention if you think Jerry isn’t the final say on all big decisions. That’s what he says.

Bob Kraft wanted to win so bad he had Tom Brady play QB.

Hate to say it Bob but you have just as much evidence that Jerry has final say on all big decisions as the guys saying Jerry wants to win....which you are adamant against....we assume he does have final say as owner but there's a lot of variability in that statement just like the wanting to win statement

It's likely he makes the last decision and he also wants to win...but both are very hard statements to prove or disprove...he's the owner so we assume both but history also says otherwise

2014 and especially 2016 were fun seasons but dallas was never a contender those seasons. haven't been since 07 tbh

Never contenders?????????? cmon. ONE play cost us the game in GB, and it wasnt the Dez catch. If sorry DeMarco Murray doesnt fumble on a play he had a 10 yard wide hole to run through, we beat the packers, and after that, there was nobody we couldn't have beaten on the way to the SB. The difference between winning and losing is Razor thin.

Here’s an actual quote from Jerry from article in 2019. (And here’s the link to the whole article:
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...fends-his-ongoing-role-as-g-m-of-the-cowboys/)

Nobody can exchange a player, nobody can do anything unless I have approved it tacitly or otherwise. Nobody can have the authority to make a trade or a change or deal a draft pick since I owned the Cowboys, unless I approve it. Within the organization some people like a coach or some people like a player personnel director or some people like a marketing manager, they may have decision-making authority above people below them, but as far as having any authority to do that above them as it pertains to me, that has never been the case with the Dallas Cowboys. Never. . . . Nobody never has had the final say but me. Now, you really know I don’t like to say that. But that’s a fact. And, so, when we don’t do good, we all know who the ultimate total responsibility is.”

I know it’s popular among some fans to say that “other people” like Stephen are making most of the big decisions now. But that’s not what Jerry himself actually says. Does Jerry listen to people? Yes. Does he have a number of advisors? Yes. Has he abdicated his power in making major decisions? According to his own words, absolutely not.

Because he says so.

He screams into his pillow at the end of every season he does not win a Super Bowl. Nobody wants it more than him.
