I couldn't come up with a better title,

Am 'I the only one who notices HK starts a couple of minutes past the hour and ends 10 minutes early ? *** ?

Now let me say I love Love NFL films. I have worked with them on a few occasions, There Production value and photography is under-appreciated in the industry, But come on, give me a longer show, don't ell me there isn't enough material when you show us a bloody cattle auction ( Blah ) just put a camera on these guys, I felt this show lacked in all areas, Every show had a great build up , story line and it should only get better, We have 1 episode left I felt a little let down on this last one. Don't get me wrong again I love this Show but I know I'm knit picking but I feel it should be longer. I know they will make a box set with extra footage, and if they do It better be extended footage not just a few more minutes because I'm sick of all these con jobs to buy products and find out I was shammed.

I know I'm on a rant here but someone out there must feel like I do.
Thanks
ILJ

I feel you. Last night's episode was only 46 minutes long. I feel cheated. It's bad enough that it's only 5 episodes instead of the 6 they promised at first, but they've cut each episode by 10 or 15 minutes. That's a whole hour of possible coverage. I wish HBO would advertise on its own time, not ours.

I feel the same way, also why don't they let the scene's be a little longer than a quick blur and where you can hear their voices. Jason hardly got to talk at all , and Tony & his dad had their backs to the camera and you couldn't hear what the conversation was. What good is that. They should use that extra 15 minutes to stretch the scenes some.

I disagree. I think last night's show was the best of them so far. We got some insight into:
-Wade as a disciplinarian
-Wade making decisions (ex: winning the texans game vs evaluating players)
-Conversation between Jerry & Wade re Felix's touches
-Spencer's emergence
-Bobby's improvements and the fact that it is known that he needs to become more physical
-Garret's "no excuses" mentality for '08

To me this stuff is much more interesting than watching guys singing or joking around.

It is not unusual for HBO shows to run shorter so they can use the extra time to promote upcoming series, etc. If you were to take all the commercials out of a network show such as LOST you end up with 35-40 min.

Haha. It is HBO's own time. They own it. On a network with no commercials, they can choose to put advertisements wherever they want.

The real issue, though, is that this is a joint venture with NFL Films who will look to play this show on the NFL Network in the future. On the NFL Network, there are commercials. Now they won't have to edit stuff out to make room for the commercials.

If they had edited stuff out to fit an hour time slot with commercials when they are showing repeats of HardKnocks on the NFL Network one, two, three years from now, all of you would be complaining about how you aren't getting the whole package then.

This is the whole package. They are under no requirement to make the show 60 minutes long. Be thankful for what you get. Deal with it.

For a show with no commercials how can you complain about the time length? would you rather watch commericals every 7 minutes, and get a full hour? It's not a full 60 minutes because there are no commericials.

There were some great moments no doubt about it,
among all that you mentioned, BUT I do digress This is not a network show.

Its cable. There's no need to keep hammering us with there crap. Its bad enough I have to watch the tail end of this idiotic vampire show there pushing down our throats every week, All I know is if the NFL film's doesn't have a complete 1 hour episode or Extra footage, maybe a Un-aired episode when they release a box set, Then shame on them, Again I'm just making a uneducated statement at this time I'm not sure what the deal was or what happened but this series started out amazing and its just fizzling to me,
that's how I feel. Again I love what this is but I know how much better this could have been. As a die hard Cowboy fan like most of you I could watch a show every night like this it's makes great TV, So I'm just really knit picking at it

Deal with it ? We have no choice. All I am saying is It's disappointing. You may just deal with it or in life deal with it. But I can speak what I think, Listen I like it the show its fine but its not special. Yes it's the Cowboys, but this hard-knocks is not different then the last few they put on.
And when you hype something it better be Great !! Well maybe my standards are just a little higher then others

44:30 to 46 mins is pretty much a broadcast network industry standard for hour programming. NFL films re-purposes the show to international markets and the NFLN that must fit within total run times with commercials.

It says there supposed to be 50 minutes long and the cable guide (on the tv) even says it last till 50 after the hour.

On one side of the fence, I do feel a little let down (more at the cattle auction than the time) but on the other side, I am hoping Hard Knocks never comes back to Dallas. Way too much made about it. First, posts about if it will or will not be a distraction. Then opinions made about a players with 1/100 of the the story. Then those oppinions take 180 turns based on another 1/100 of the story. Fears that it isn't giving us enough of what they promised.

Does anyone sit back and enjoy it for what it is.. five more hours (or 4) of getting an inside look (not inside information but just a look) at a team they love? Maybe munch on some snacks? Maybe smile and laugh and not worry about using it as game footage to rewind and watch another five times? It is like getting a new car for your 16th birthday but then complaining that it doesn't have XM or an iPod adapter.

But even at that, it didn't even last 50 mins last night. More like 46 minutes. I'm paying a premium to watch HBO. Give me those 4 minutes they left out. Is that too much to ask?

Bingo. They are not making it just for HBO but for future commercial airings. Therefore they are set for the future with little editing.

HBO is famous for doing that, they did the same thing with the Sopranos.

A good number of you were talking about how you are going to get HBO just for the month that these air and then you are going to cancel.. all while laughing at how ingenious the idea was. So they use some time to help put out other things you might be interested in so you stay. that is how they make their money... subscriptions. Not commercials and sponsers. It is the nature of how it is. No use getting bothered by it.
