If you watched the shootout is was anything but boring, but I do know what you mean. Some of the tracks they run at are not conducive to close pack racing.

Don't mess with the All Star race at all. We go every year and we generally get a suite in the turn two area. We go because it always seems to fit my family and my friends family's schedule.

If you earn top 10 in points you have shown consistency throughout the season and deserve a spot in the Chase, regardless if you have won a race or not. So, top 10 is in. Now if you are outside the top 10, but have won a race, then you qualify for the Chase. You should not only be rewarded for consistency, but also winning.
I have been an advocate of a pure points system. One where you get 43 points for first on down to 1 point for last. I don't think just because you won a race you should be in the chase. Last year Trevor Bayne would have been in the chase and he didn't even race his car for the longest time.
If they would just go on a pure points basis then those who would run consistently would get in. As for the chase itself, I don't think there should even be a top 10. It should just be decided on the total accumulated points throughout the whole season.
And by the way, if you have not gotten out to the NASCAR HOF they opened a couple years ago, you really should. If you ever get to Charlotte, it is a must see.
