Just got back from the house.

The foundation expert said there was absolutely no foundation problem and the crack in the brick is just settlement. Another foundation guy is suppose to come out but honestly, I think it is a waste of time and he keeps cancelling on us anyway.

Had the guy who is going to install the wood out and the total square footage for wood is around 545.5 Square Ft, so I will buy quite a bit more than that to be safe.

I was also able to borrow a piece of tile they had in the house so I can take that with me when shopping for the wood I am going to get.

The people who live there cook with alot of spicy ingredients (curry maybe) and it is going to be very hard to get rid of the smell.

Buy lots and lots of Kilz(?) primer that's the only way to get rid of it. :laugh2:

I bought 10% more flooring than was needed and I still have a stack outside. My contractor told me 10% was the rule of thumb he used. It leaves some left over for replacement boards if ever needed. You want replacement wood to be of the same stock and they can look quite different if you patch from a different stock.

Crack in what brick? Settlement happens, but if your foundation is cracking that IS NOT a good thing!

This philosophy should apply to paint and tile, as well. Should always have some extra just in case you need to touch up the wall from scratches...or a piece of tile cracks.

My foundation isn't cracking.

There is a vertical crack in the brick veneer on the top right portion of the house. The House Inspector last friday and a Foundation Expert an hour ago have stated that the crack in the brick veneer has absolutely nothing to do with a foundation problem.

Believe me, when I spoke to the Foundation Guy (who is in the foundation business if you know what I mean), I was shocked that he didn't try to sale me at least 2 piers :laugh1: .

Now all we have to do if talk to the seller about fixing some very minor issues and then we sit tight until July 1st, which is closing.

Yes, this is why I am going to buy 600 Sqft. The guy doing my wood suggested I get 10% more, which would would be about 599 sqft for me. However, places like Rodenbaughs and Lumber Liquidators told me they ask for 15% more.

I have four boxes left and I think they are 15 or 18 sq feet per box!

never can be too cautious.
