Well, he'd be the difference maker on the d-line we need; and allow the Cowboys to focus on RB, LB, and CB in the draft. If they do their homework on this guy and protect themselves financially; I'd be all-in for the move.

Nothing more to glean really. His stuff has been very hush hush for a player of his magnitude which is strange now that Free Agency has started.
The off field stuff is legit to teams, no matter what anybody wants to think. I'm very interested in seeing what happens with him. I don't know how I'll feel if he's signed by this team.

On the one hand- I want that talent on our DL and know what it would mean for the entire defense.
On the other- he has things hanging over his head that could very well affect the team that he signs with and that's simply not desirable.

For me: if they sign him, it's all going to be about how team-friendly the contract and the numbers involved.
I'd like both commitments from him worded and escape clauses for the team.
I'm sure that's what almost all of us would like, but for real- it could happen, the longer he's floating around with nary a tweet about him getting any big offers.

Of course, I could be all wrong...

What is the word on his eligibility status for next year? He could still be suspended right?

Not many teams are going to touch former Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy given his domestic violence troubles. Fortunately for Hardy, the Dallas Cowboys have lots of money and not many scruples…

yeah ok...

Some people shoot down this happening because of our cap; these people don't understand the cap. Something is still happening with Brandon Carr not to mention we still have that option to restructure Witten/Romo to make a ton of room(this is a last resort).

I think this is a deal that can realistically happen. Jerry and even Jason has taken chances on guys with character concerns(see McClain), I think at this poin...Hardy is going to take a one year "prove it" deal. It only makes sense from his prospective; sure he may be able to get a long term deal with decent guarantees but imagine his contract if he keeps his nose clean for a year and gets double digit sacks, it would easily double what he will get now.

Could Hardy be any harder to manage than Rolando McClain was last year?

Looks to be based on the same tweet that is a couple of days old and we had a long thread discussing it.

I did post a tweet in one of threads where the 49ers GM was very adamant that they wanted nothing to do with Hardy. So it would seem that the Panthers owner not wanting him stay is more than just a guy who some claimed was really conservative.

Gotta give you pause one the guy.

if we make a push for hardy then it needs to be a deal in the mold of meltons
ie-a 1 year deal with incentives and a team option for additional years
since no1 knows yet his status for 2015 id want game incentives in there
And the reason for a team option for additional years-well if he comes back as the greg hardy he was at the panthers then this tme next year every man and his dog will be chucking money at his to sign, this way we can have our option and decline it if we wish but if he is the difference maker wehope for on the dline then by agreeing the additional years now we may get it cheaper than we would a 1 year deal then having to renotiate next year

I don't think so. I think probably easier to manage.

Exactly. That's why I say bring him in here. This is not a league of angels; and I think the Cowboys have the resources in place to deal with Hardy's issues.

I would take either. I'm not worried about the 2016 season, I'm just trying to get a pass rush to give us a chance next year. If losing Murray means we get a legitimate pass rush then we will be a better team.

Plus if Hardy had one more domestic violence run in...he will be banned from the NFL no doubt.

Well that's true; but this is also one of the best all-around DE's in football. It's worth the risk as long as the Cowboys protect themselves cap-wise with the structure of his deal (assuming they are interested).
