Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports the contract free agent OC Justin Hartwig (Titans) agreed to Saturday, March 11, with the Carolina Panthers is for five years and worth $17 million, including a $7 million signing bonus and $11 million in the first two years. That will put Hartwig among the NFL's top five paid centers. Tennessee made a nearly identical offer to keep Hartwig, but he said he chose Carolina because he viewed them as a title contender.

I hope BP is right about Gurode, because this guy was in our ball park and we could have signed him for that.

I don't think we were interested, I never saw his name linked to us.

I think with the Gurode signing, Hartwig wasn't on the radar any longer.

Now, I wonder what happened with all the Neal (Pats) talk from yesterday? Are we still interested?

doubt it -- I think we are going to get someone in here to play RT though. Fabs or Ashworth I'd think.

I still think Kosier may be playing RT for us.

Maybe if JJ has a press conference to introduce Kosier we will get some information.

Fabini last VR on Saturday w/o signing a contract. Unless we/he rethinks situation, doubt we bring him back. I'd like to see us bring in a young, but good RT so we don't have to worry about that position for number of years. If in time Pettiti really develops, then either we have a good backup in him or maybe the new RT we sign can move to LT if Adams gets hurt/is cut. Given how much these contracts are going for now, doubt know what Ashworth would cost but probably comparable to the Atlanta RT who just signed with somebody??

oh that doesn't matter. every time a FA is signed by a team NOT us, we'll have some fans upset we didn't bust a move for the sake of busting a move.

No way on the RT thing. Kosier's agent already said we was told "guard".

Anybody know where Jerry really is? Last time I checked, his jet was just leaving the U.S. heading south to Mexico......

Radar? $11 mil for the first two years ???

someone gets it.

thought the Kosier and Hartwig deals seem to only differ by $2 over the 5 years, Hartwig got an amazing contract. 2/3rds of the money is guaranteed -- that's very different from Kosier's deal which only has 1/3rd in bonus. Hartwig's is front loaded. Kosiers is likely backloaded. Basically we gave a guy 5 million now and have years 3-5 in place if he does well.

but abersonc the difference to me is that Hartwig is a proven center, a position of great need to us. i would rather have signed a center and RT and taken a guard in the draft in round 2-3 to take over next year from LA. the gurode contract is for only 1 year, if he does not work out we are looking at turnstile city just like last year and if he does work out he is a FA next year and we are back to square one. unless we intent to go center in the draft (nick mangold- scouts are saying best center prospect in 15 years) i dont like what we did in the short run or the long run.

No, but he just got pushed back again.:D

The Cowboys will draft a tackle either in the 2nd or 1st round.
