Has Ahmad Dixon ruined his chance?

He was late for the gameday walkthrough apparently. Is that enough to warrant a cut? He really looked like a player last week. This is an enormous setback for a player that had a shot to really contribute this season.

I don't think so. Hopefully it's a wake up call for him and he takes advantage of his next chance.

was wondering why he did not play tonight..

thought it might be a precaution due to his concussion.

he was dressed though.

i damn sure wanted to see more of him after last week.

I don't see this as hurting his chances. He was late, so a lesson was taught, and he is coming off a concussion, so giving him a little extra time off during the preseason can't hurt.

I don't believe a player that can run, hit and tackle will have a problem making this squad after watching our ST's tonight.

If the Cowboys were to cut him, many teams would be lining up to take him. And I mean many. So, no, he did not 'ruin' his chance. I don't think the Cowboys would cut him. I think, barring injury, he wil be on the 53-man roster.

Gonna go with a big fat NO on this one. Dixon made a mistake and was punished. He has 3 weeks to prove it was an aberration and by all accounts has been the biggest hitter in camp.

"We had intentions of playing him but you have to handle your business," Garrett said. "You have to be somebody we can trust and hopefully he'll learn from this experience."

There you go -- I think Garrett said it all right there. We'll see what happens when the final cuts are made. Dixon is far from perfect and needs to seriously improve his coverage abilities but his tackling and hitting talents make up for a lot of things. I could see things going either way when the Turk comes calling but good tackling is sorely needed on this team. Time will tell, here.

I don't think Dixon is a lock to make the team. He is essentially the 3rd big hitting box type safety on the roster after Church and Wilcox. How many of those types of safeties does a team need? Beyond that he is a 7th round pick, has already been injured and missed time in camp, and hasn't endeared himself to the coaching staff by being late and essentially being suspended and you end up with the very definition of a bubble player.
