I didn't stay over night, but I spent the day and it was a good time. I was at Sandals and took a trip over. Really a beautiful place with plenty to do for families. A great water park, aquarium, etc.

The second hand info I have from my in-laws who used to go yearly, they loved it. They haven't gone in years and it was 8 years ago when I went, but I don't if it's changed much.

We are headed to Disney in sept. with the kids but my wife ad I are looking at going somewhere for Christmas or New years as well.

Thought Atlantis would be a nice place.

Anyone experience it?

Here is a link to the resort we are looking at...

Yes, Caj. Been there twice actually. Most recently two years ago when I took my whole company there as a reward for making our 2006 annual goal.

It's a great resort, extremely nice... first class all the way.

The food is great, the amenities are great. It's got a big casino if you're into that kind of thing. Lots of walk-through aquariums that are fantastic and that the kids will love. Great little waterpark as well including their famous Mayan Plunge.

You can also do lots of off-site stuff like swim with the dolphins, go scuba diving or snorkeling, etc.

Another place you might want to consider is the Beaches resort in Turks and Caicos. I just got back from there this year. It was another company trip and it was a lot of fun as well.

The accommodations aren't quite as luxurious, but they are still high quality, and it has the added benefit of being all-inclusive, which was nice because you didn't have to pay for a meal or a drink, and there was a lot of recreation that was included in the base price as well.

But both are great.

I have been to Atlantis.

Same deal as DW. Went there with a company.

I would add that it seemed to be VERY family friendly. We went during the summer and it was all families. I dont know if it was just because it was summer or if that is their main theme.

I'd also recommend staying in the Royal Towers there, unless price is a big issue.

From everything I've heard, all these Caribbean resorts are really struggling to get people there in this economy. You can probably work a great deal if you're good at negotiating. Dining can be pretty expensive there, so maybe work a deal with the meal plan.

I've been there twice and it is great. Nice aquarium, great food, water slides for the kids (the "leap of faith" is a blast). 60 or so foot drop out of a Mayan looking pyramid only to finish by sliding under a live shark tank. I met Barry Bonds on the beach about a mile away. There was some good snorkeling in front of Barry's place.

Make sure to take the Rose Island day trip. Beautiful beach and awesome snorkeling. They serve a traditional peas and rice Bahamian style lunch too.
