That sounds awesome...which places in SA did you go to? Which places did you enjoy the most? The least?
I had already been to Peru (Lima, Arequipa, Cuzco, Inca Trail, Puno, Lake Titicaca ) and Bolivia (La Paz, Sucre, Potosi, Santa Cruz), so I figured I wanted to experience the southern part of the continent. My trip consisted of flying into Buenos Aires, then Iguazu Falls, Cordoba, Mendoza, Bariloche, El Bolson, El Calafate to see the Perito Moreno glacier, Ushuaia. Then after I cam eb ack from Antarctica, I went into Chile (Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales) to do the full circuit at Torres del Paine. Left to Santiago to spend a few days before I had my return flight home.
My word. What do you do that allows you this type of travel?
I graduated college last summer. I have a gap year before medical school, so I'm using it wisely. Monetary wise, I lived very frugally while I was there. For lodging, I either stayed at cheap hostels or set my tent up on the side of the road. For transportation, either cheap bus fare or hitchhiking. It's amazing how cheap you can travel if you put your mind to it.
Dude, you're living the dream that most would kill for. Congrats on your hard work to get where you are now. Keep it up! Maybe you'll meet the woman of your dreams in some far away land. Oh, and send some pics. Ahem, of the landscape of course.
