that Romo's throws will never leave the viewing screen in terms of height? Even his deep bombs to Owens back in the day seemed to be just long bullets instead of bombs.

There are certain QB's that also avoid throwing that high over the recievers shoulder throw as-well.

Weird.

Romo's bomb to Owens vs Philly last year left the screen for a few seconds last year.

+1

Romo's deep passes are still a work in progress, they rarely land in the right place. Maybe he has a problem with putting air under it and allowing the WR to run under it,,, but I'll take those short 30yd passes followed by a 50 yard run anyday :)

I'm not trying to be facetious, but are we discussing how high Romo's passes are being viewed on television? If that's correct, doesn't that have everything to do with how high cameramen decide to aim their cameras when following the path of the football?

Aikman's deep passes used to seem like punts. I swear those things had some serious hang time. They were routinely on the money. Good stuff...

Romo's long bombs to Austin last year in GB had some pretty good hang time too.

And it seemed like TO was waiting forever for that bomb that hit him in stride in the first Philly game.

There should be at least 2 bomb attempts to Austin a game. Just to let the defense know we have that capability.

Haha, what I mean is his passes are fast and hit the reciever quickly, instead of thrown earlier in the play (which could help with shortening the time he needs pass protection) and letting the reciever run to it.

This second one takes alot more touch and reciever/qb timing.

Interesting. I remember Aikman's deep ball as the weakest part of his game. His trademark accuracy was nowhere to be found on his bombs, as I recall.

Troy was a terrific QB but his deep passing game was NOT a strength. Did he connect on more than the average QB? Yes. But overall, Aikman's timing and accuracy in the 15-40 yard patterns (comebacks, seam routes, deep outs) is what made him great.

His bombs were led zeppelins that he let Mike and Alvin try and make a play on before they crashed to earth, and would miraculously put it on spot here and again. The bomb to Rocket was a perfect throw but on the sideline go patterns his accuracy was probably worse than Q's.

I prefer Romo's 45yrd x 25ft high lasers but they probably result in more INT's than are necessary if they are at all underthrown "in", meaning short of the sideline.
