If so, would you do it again?
I almost had one installed about 8-10 years ago at the lake house when I was upgrading the insulation and having 2 solar-powered vent fans put in.
The owner of the company who did this work, and actually did installation on these things, kind of talked me out of it, oddly enough.
But just feeling how much difference those simple reflecting car shades make, it's hard to pass up.
One half of the house, where the 3 guest rooms and living/dinning rooms are, faces east/s east and is fully carpeted.
But the back half faces almost due N/W, and has a 29'x18' greatroom with the kitchen open completely, save for a counter/bar and hung cabinet, to the den. This room has a red Spanish tile floor, and the entire exterior wall has nearly floor-to-ceiling windows, (4 of them plus the glass backdoor). The windows/backwall are shaded by an insulated patio cover that extends out 8', plus 2 large oaks, so it rarely gets direct sun into the windows.
Even after redoing and adding AC vents to push more air to that part of the house, it is always 5-8 degrees cooler than the front.
Any input on those w/ experience on these, would be appreciated.
